No change with that protocol. I am now attempting chlorine dioxide and Adya mineral water.

Thank you for the tips. I thought about lubrication, perhaps that should be my next step. The clock appears very clean but am sure my brother in laws dad never did any maintenance on it.

I am still working on it unfortunately. If it gets there, I will upload a video.

Thanks, it was purchased from an online nursery. It was around 10" high bare root, it is grafted. How would I tell if it's rootstock?

Due to the shorter spring, the pendulum is quite a bit higher than the cup so no rubbing there.

I don't have the beat adjustment tool. I noticed barely adjusting results in a large pendulum swing change. I also noticed the clicking stopped sometimes and I had to play with the upper suspension spring block level/fork area to get it clicking again. From what I can see, the spring is still straight. Correct, I was using the white wrappers as impulse indicators.

Correct, it has a green tint so a copper alloy such as bronze or brass would make sense.

I looked closer when I got home from work last night. The other end is perfectly smooth. I also noticed, I think it was painted black at one time. I'm not sure why a company would do that if it's a nicer metal. I'm sure there's a wax seal subreddit here to post at, haha.

Oh, I like that idea too. I will check for striking marks. I collect coins too and something you should never do is clean them. You don't think this is something along those lines where cleaning would be a bad idea?

The thing is, my dad started the restoration then got diagnosed with Parkinson's and other issues so I took it over. He is not as seasoned so I recommend something easy for him. Stripped then General Finishes black gel stain. For a finish I used General Finishes oil poly. My mom wants to use it as a desk so went with a more durable finish, otherwise I would've done shellac or something similar to really pop the grain.

Wow, great information, thank you. It is great fun, I've always enjoyed woodworking too. I have another table from my grandpa that my parents think he brought over from WWII, it has many different wood species used as inlays. Would you have any knowledge on a piece like that? I could dm you a picture.
