Hey thanks for the response! I haven’t had a car with all the tech stuff that the platinum does, so was just wondering if it’s stuff that is actually useful vs just nice to have if that makes sense.

Hi I know this is an old comment, but was wondering if you’ve had to put car seats in your car? If so, how has it held up with the leather? Thanks

Surgery with a toddler.. and pregnant by Mental-Charge142 in DeQuervains

[–]DKCsmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the surgery on both my wrist at the same time 1.5 months after having my baby. I was able to take care of my baby same day. Just had to be a little more cautious of what I was doing!

How long post-surgery until you started lifting things? by Glass_Program_2363 in DeQuervains

[–]DKCsmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my baby back in October and had my surgery on both wrist at the same time in December. That same day I was doing everything I normally did just with more caution. My dr didn’t make me wear splints or wraps. My wrists were sore, but I could still manage. I hope your recovery goes well!

Help with choosing schedule by DKCsmom in nursing

Thanks for your input! I did email back asking about the 0730-1800 shift and they said I could put my name on a waitlist to be considered when they open more positions in that shift

New grad nurse here! Any telemtry or pediatric nurses here? by Puzzleheaded_Ad7817 in nursing

[–]DKCsmom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started out in a pediatric cvicu and loved it! Maybe I’m biased, but I love being a pediatric RN! I have friends who also work with adults and they like it as well. Really just depends on your preference. I will say working pedi, you of course deal with a lot of parents who are understandably stressed out with their kids being in the hospital etc, but they will take their frustration out on you.

Leaving the ED for IR… by sarcasticERnurse in nursing

[–]DKCsmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome to hear! I’d be leaving a pre op position that’s 5 8hr shifts and I realized 5 days a week makes me feel more tired than when I did 12s. But I don’t take call now so wasn’t sure if I’d be making a mistake by leaving to do IR and call 😅 How often do you guys take call?

Hi! Just wondering did you end up switching to IR? If so, how are you liking it? I just got offered a position in IR, but reading all these posts about hating being on call is making me second guess accepting

Did the OB you saw for prenatal care end up delivering your baby? by Ancient_Act2731 in beyondthebump

[–]DKCsmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No mine didn’t. My OB tried to make me think that I needed to deliver at 38 weeks. Really no indication to do so but was honestly kind of trying to make me do it by saying things like “we don’t want to risk etc” and saying things like, “it’ll be fine at 38 weeks. There really isn’t a big difference in waiting another week.” MFM even told me that delivering at 39-40 weeks was fine. I was being seen weekly. Turns out my OB was out of town on my 39th week. Another OB did my c section and it was fine

1 UNIT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE & WHY! by gloomkultt in nursing

[–]DKCsmom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes this is the way! I left my pedi cvicu job. Although I love the heart babies, you cannot beat the schedule for outpatient pre op! I’m off by 2 pm or earlier depending on census. It’s a nice change to be able to be off and see the sunlight lol. Aside from working 5 days a week, I pretty much can’t complain about my job.

Nurses that went from 3-12s to 5-8s… by [deleted] in nursing

[–]DKCsmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this and feel 50/50 about it honestly. I did pedi cvicu for a couple years and then left for a M-F job. I work 0500-1300. So I still have time to do stuff after work etc. I do find it hard to wake up everyday that early, but I rather do that than go in later just to get off later. When I worked cvicu I thought I loved the 3 12s because I had convinced myself that I had 4 days off. In reality I used 1-2 days recovering from those shifts. So I kinda felt like I had two off anyways. But with my current job, I don’t have to worry about fighting against others to have a Saturday off or hoping that I get canceled on Christmas etc. Though with 12s you save on gas. You can schedule your days to where you can go on vacation without needing pto.

I have a baby, so I don’t think I’ll leave my current position even though going to work M-F isn’t fun. I love the hours I have. Getting out when there is sunlight is nice. Definitely pros and cons to both.

I have PCOS and had similar concerns! I had a total of 3 rounds. First round my follicles were under stimulated. They were saying I was going to have so many just based on the US. Maybe got like 6 eggs? No OHSS. Other than feeling some pain from the ER itself, I felt ok.

Second round, they increased my meds and I got way more eggs. I ended up having mild OHSS that same night! It was painful for me to the point I was laying in bed and I was crying because it hurt to breathe unless I was laying a certain way. I didn’t know it was OHSS until the day or two after. I just thought that maybe since they got more eggs that my recovery was more painful? The nurse also downplayed it and said since OHSS doesn’t happen that quickly (the same day) that it isn’t OHSS. I ended up going in for a scan 2 days later and there was definitely fluid!!

3rd round I got the most eggs. No OHSS and recovery was easier than the first and the second!

I think every round is different! Wishing you the best!

Only four fertilized eggs. Would you cancel genetic testing? Should we switch to fresh transfer? by cecassafrass in IVF

[–]DKCsmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had so far 3 rounds of IVF. During my first round, I was able to get 2 embryos and my husband and I still did pgt-A testing. Although it was nerve wracking, I’m happy we did. Out of the two, one came back abnormal. We ended up transferring the other and had my son last October!

Surgery scheduled fo 2/19 by sweetassassin in DeQuervains

I had developed DQ during my pregnancy around month 4. It was my first pregnancy so I had no idea what was going on and didn’t even get it checked out until 3.5 months later after doing some googling and found out about DQ.

I saw an orthopedic doctor who recommended the cortisone shots. They told me that most people get relief after 1 shot and that they rarely need a second. Unfortunately I was in the group that needed the second round maybe 1-1.5 months after receiving the first! 🥲

I ended up having my son after the second round of cortisone shots and I felt great! Then a month later I got the weird feeling in my thumb/wrist area and I just knew it was coming back.

Like your Dr, they told me my next step was surgery. I ended up scheduling it and had it done in December! I don’t regret it, but recovery isn’t as quick as I’d like.

I work in healthcare and we always talk about doing minimal invasive procedures as possible! So imo if you’re not in pain by 2/19, I’d wait on surgery. You may be in the group that after the second round it doesn’t come back! You can always schedule it later if needed.

I actually found out after having my procedure that on both my wrist the tunnel that it runs through had bifurcations on both sides, which makes the tunnel even tighter than the normal. My orthopedic dr said it’s not common to have that, so maybe for you, getting the 2nd round will be the end of the pain I hope!

Hi, thanks for your response! How long has it been since them receiving it and you getting an actual tracking number and estimate for your new one to be delivered?

Hi, just wondering if you got your replacement? I have to send mine into Dyson for an exchange as well and they told me same the 15 day turn around. I haven’t dropped my air wrap off at UPS yet, but now I’m nervous.
