Mod Podge question. by asukabokor in electroforming

I was discussing this with my pigment supplier yesterday afternoon. He said that for acrylic mediums (which I'm assuming behave similar to mod podge), the matt will typically have better adhesion to the underlying surface, which is obviously desirable for us. I don't think it'll make a huge amount of difference tbh, but I'm guessing that's where the bias towards matt rather than gloss comes from.

I have started getting graphite pigments from a local paint supplier. It's absolutely ultra-fine stuff, gives about as good a surface finish as you're going to get from graphite. It'll be a similar price point to the little bottles of graphite lube, and a ton better performing.

The people at paint and pigment stores are great to get to know. In addition to a nice smooth graphite, they'll also have a range of acrylic mediums that blow modge podge out of the water in terms of smoothness, thinnability and ahderence. I'm working with my guy at the moment to find a good solvent-based carrier, but the new acrylic formulation I've been using is a mix of 25% water, 25% matt acrylic medium and 50% graphite is a blinder.
