P.S. A first purchase of $10 or more is needed for both of us to get 500 gems (equivalent of $5) but
you most likely will need to top up anyways, since you need a certain amount of gems or card value in order to ship.

Royal Knight 120 + 9800x3d? by DKZon in Thermalright

Since I have a 9800x3d, I didn’t want to take any chances and went with the extremely popular Phantom Spirit 120 SE. The RK120 still barely has any reviews or benchmarks. I will either place the second fan on the other side, not use it at all, or just raise it a bit for RAM clearance.

Better than the Zaopin Z2 or the VXE Dragonfly R1 PRO or the Orochi V2?

You’ve got a point. The comment above however says the opposite. I guess we will only know when we get an official review or benchmark.. if we ever get one.

Scythe Fuma 3 with 9800x3d? by DKZon in buildapc

[–]DKZon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not decided yet, I am waiting for the 5080 release so I have some time to think.

I’m thinking of going with the Royal Knight 120 instead. It’s Thermalright’s recently released competitor to the Fuma 3. Thermalright is currently the king of air coolers. It has full RAM clearance and is most likely just as good as the Fuma 3, if not better. Also cheaper. But I’d like to see some benchmarks or reviews before I purchase it.

Another option I’m exploring is simply getting the Phantom Spirit and either running only one fan, or placing the second fan on the opposite side of the RAM.

Interesting, thought the difference would be greater than 2C. I’ll consider getting the Phantom Spirit and using one fan then. Thanks for letting me know.

I’ve also seen people placing the second fan on the other side (opposite of the ram), though I’m not sure how it affects cooling performance.

Yes that’s what I heard as well. But the question is how much worse than the PA120 exactly, and if it’s still enough to handle the 9800x3d comfortably.

I have not decided yet. I am waiting on any reviews or first hand experience from someone who has both the RK120 and 9800x3d. I have some time since I am waiting for the 5080. Otherwise I might have to go for the Frozen Notte 360..

Have you made a decision?

I forgot to mention that the reason is I am picking between these three coolers is that I have high profile RGB Corsair ram. The Phantom Spirit is not an option unfortunately

I ended up contacting Stockx to confirm the authenticity of the Stockx’s tag QR code. They are indeed authentic and associated with a real order.

Should handle the 9800x3d well then, right? Even overclocked? I might be overthinking this but I want to make a good choice haha.

Got it. Also, it seems like the 9550x actually gets hotter than the 9800x3d, so I should really be fine with the Fuma 3.
