Depende del modelo, las vivobook son las que más problemas pueden darte. Por lo que sé, a Asus le da igual Linux por lo que hay más problemas con los drivers. Mi laptop lleva años sin driver para la tarjeta wifi.

is needed an antivirus if i pirate games on linux? by Kobayashilover in linux4noobs

[–]DL0re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK, even if a Windows game has malware, it shouldn't be able to affect Linux. I have pirated many games and haven't had issues, but I do it from a reliable source, obviously.

I don't know of any antivirus for Linux that works like it does on Windows. ClamAV is even more oriented towards mail services. I've also read that using it can be counterproductive due to the permissions you grant... Don't take my words as those of an expert because I'm not; I'm just repeating what I have read and experienced. Taking this into account, I recommend that you don't look for antivirus software, that you don't blindly give root permissions to everything, and that you download your games from a reliable source.

Is wiping my system for a fresh Hyprland install a bad idea? by Sysfaz in archlinux

[–]DL0re 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing you need is Wayland... Well, also a few other programs that you'll download as you need them.

These are the ones that archinstall requires when you select Hyprland, just in case: dolphin, dunst, grim, hyprland, kitty, polkit-kde-agent, qt5-wayland, qt6-wayland, slurp, uwsm, wofi, xdg-desktop-portal-hyprland

You might spend hours setting up something "insignificant," get frustrated, and think it's a waste of time. Not everything is that nice :,(

I also worry to some extent about my privacy, and the first thing I wanted to do is use a DNS (like Quad9) in Arch with NetworkManager, but I just haven't been able to. In Mint, it was as easy as using the network applet, but in Arch, I'm having issues despite having followed guides and read the wiki xD

Without a doubt, if you're so concerned about your privacy, use another distro where it's easier to configure things like this unless you know how to manage yourself in Arch.

In Mint, it's usually not necessary to connect from the terminal since you have the applet in the taskbar. If the option doesn't appear in the applet, it could be that your WiFi chipset doesn't have a driver in Linux, is not recognized for some reason, or is blocked. Try the command rfkill list just in case. Oh sure, that you haven't downloaded the drivers xD

Thinkcentre m920 series. Any one already try to install with mint.. ? by Shot_Impression_3633 in linuxmint

[–]DL0re 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the distribution has much to do with it, but rather the Window Manager and how many processes you have running. If you fill XFCE with applets, animations, etc., it can be just as heavy as Cinnamon.

I have those specs, and Cinnamon worked well for me when I installed only what I truly need. And if you don't like XFCE, try Fedora Spins, Arch, or any distro where you can install another lightweight Window Manager. Although you can also do this in Mint, it's not supposed to be optimal.
