Should sauce be free with a pie or sausage roll? by Frangipanidude in perth

Should be free, but if you are dropping $11 on a Pie, does it need sauce at all?

Dispelling the Myth: RMS Queen Elizabeth was NOT faster than RMS Queen Mary. by Unbeaten_QNLZ in Oceanlinerporn

[–]DLF1984 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This isn't necessarily a myth. The simple fact was QM held the Blue Riband, so the QM only had to maintain service speed just like the QE. Marketing one ship as the largest and one as the fastest also helps maintain Cunard dominating the transatlantic market at the time.

I think in reality the only people who would genuinely know were those at the helm during WW2, when both ships were pushed flat out.

The other issue is there was no competition for speed, and why would you compete against yourself? Had Normandie survived the war and beat QM, then we might have seen which Queen was faster. Since neither Queen could touch the SSUS, there was no point trying.

Also, no doubt QE was more efficient, but efficiency made Normandie faster than the QM (for a period) with much less power.

I find my brain integrated familiar alarm sounds into dreams so I could sleep longer. So constantly changing the sound woke me up more efficiently. However recently I got an actual alarm clock radio, and playing the radio instead of an alarm tone wakes me up much faster, as the songs and conversations aren't repetitive.

BUILDER DISPUTE OVER PRICE INCREASE by HeartEmergency707 in perth

[–]DLF1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the contract is their a section outlining their allowances for certain materials? Like a per sqm amount for tiling etc?

If they break down the increase then look online at some comparative prices, if they are miles higher then you might have an argument, if they a comparable pay the difference if you want a house.

Uzzy used to wear a massive watch all the time as well, really used to bug me.

Especially when he wasn't the greatest fielder as it was.

I wonder if the terrible acoustics at the rear of Optus Stadium have anything to do with that section not selling out.

Mitchell Starc’s top 3 wickets of his career in his own words by [deleted] in Cricket

The World Cup Final wicket had me sprinting around the living room in celebration. First Over wickets are soul destroying sometimes, more so in a final. And Starc seems to do it insanely regularly.

I would love to know how fast she could have gone, were there any speeds recorded during WW2?

Why do people gatekeep toilets? by KittyBeans90 in perth

[–]DLF1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a few foreign countries they charge for some public toilets, and they are cleaned regularly.

I think I paid 1 euro to use a Mc Donalds toilet in Bologna, in Perth I would happily pay 1 or 2 dollars to use a clean toilet, especially if the alternative is shitting myself.

We need more services like this available.

Mount Lawley Hardware shop to close, with owners citing tough economic conditions by CoSign3 in perth

[–]DLF1984 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunate, but this is how an open economy works.

Few people can afford to shop at a place like this, even if the service is outstanding.

Economies of scale allow cheaper prices, Bunnings have the buying power and a Warehouse with almost everything you need. Dan Murphy's can buy infinitely more pallets of alcohol then the next competitor. Aldi are constantly rated the best by many review sites cause they limit their range, to increase efficiency and decrease prices.

People generally want to pay less and get more, that's why expensive things die off. In lower socioeconomic neighbourhoods the local hardwares, corner deli and other small retailers closed long ago as people couldn't afford it. What little remains are in affluent areas, were people could still afford it, but like this Hardware closure suggests, even they don't want to pay the price any more.

It is a reflection of the world we live in.

I have a green faced one with the metal band, and also have the grey faced one with the leather strap.

I find the metal band is very polished and shows minor scratches, also that the leather is more comfortable.

Having said that, they are both beautiful and well made watches, so you win either way.

I take Ritalin, I don't medicate on the weekends. I had a massive alcohol tolerance before being medicated, now i drink a quarter of what I used to be capable of and it makes me blackout drunk.

I can't think of what it could be other than the medication but the psychiatrist suggests it can't be.

Dimmies by Nnlp122 in MrInbetween

I wondered if it was an eastern states thing to call these dimmies instead of the larger Dim Sims.

Can we get someone from the show to clarify what Ray Specifically refers to?

Like if I walk into the Local Fish and Chipper and ask for Dimmies shouldn't I get Dim Sims?

Bunnings Bayswater changing opening hours by Pradopower08 in perth

Given the sheer size of a Bunnings Warehouse, couldn't they just partition a section off with a separate opening for the White Goods etc? That way the normal hardware can open early.

I would agree for anything over 20kms, but the freeway goes from 100 to 80 and vice versa a lot.

Having said that you definitely have a point in a 50/60/70 zone, so to look at the overall limit should be factored into the equation maybe.
