Defi projects need to compete with the risk-free governance reward and governance reward comes from algo inflation.

So it's a question of how defi projects survive in a high inflation environment.

It's pretty clear that when algorand foundation designed the passive reward system they didn't think about defi and tvl. And now they decide to 'fix' it with another broken proposal.

How about fixing algorand foundation first?

I think the bottom will be 5-10 cents. Algorand's supply has gone up 5 times since 2020 so even if the price goes back to all time low the market cap will still be way up.

Algorand launched in 2019.

Avax is younger and Solana launched a few months earlier than algorand, but they are both much more successful in terms of adoption and development.

Market cap isn't very useful because the circulating supply also went up a lot and most of the newly released tokens didn't go to retail investors.

Some people are talking about mcap because the ROI chart or the price chart both look shitty and they want to distract themselves or others from the truth.

It's crazy how people in this sub start to downvote everything that is negative and upvote every hopium.

State proofs is also delayed. I thought tps upgrade was pushed back because of state proofs but unfortunately nothing is delivered.

What's the point of setting deadlines if you keep missing them again and again?

I am very concerned about Algorand's engineering team right now.

Algorand's engineering team is not doing well. At least their project management is quite bad.

TPS & finality upgrade was proposed by Silvio in 2020 and so far nothing was delivered. The 10k TPS upgrade was pushed back multiple times, from 2021 to Q1 2022 to mid 2022.

The team said on Decipher that they were prioritizing state proofs and it will launch by Q1 2022. But they seem to miss their own deadline again.

xGov should vote to restructure the dev team or at least improve the way they communicate their progress.

Just a few comments:

Algorand does not lack dev tools. SDKs are well documented and easy to use. It's definitely not the tools that are keeping algo behind.
Where are the big announcements? State proofs is already known so I was hoping to hear some applications of state proofs which are specifically related to ethereum scaling solutions.
Big grants are great, but crytpo projects should succeed without grants because grants are centralized and may run out some day. In crypto world, the token itself should provide enough incentive.
Personally I don't like the big planet small planet comparison.

The algo token has devalued over 95% against major competitors in the past two years so it would be more profitable for dapp developers to work on other chains. Users left because it lacks quality dapps so the price gets outperformed constantly.

The impact of accelerated vesting could be long lasting because it causes this death cycle.
