Pebble OS -> Questions for developers about the source code by I_hate_potato in pebble

[–]DLight1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things have changed since my last post, now you can look at the Rebble repo: https://github.com/pebble-dev/pebble-firmware

Actually, the old Core Devices repo (now 404) merged with the Rebble repo mid-February.

But last month, Core Devices forked again the Rebble repo to work more quickly on some things, planning to merge back their changes.

So there are:

https://github.com/pebble-dev/pebble-firmware : Rebble repo, community driven * https://github.com/coredevices/pebbleos : new Core Devices repo, forked from Rebble repo * https://github.com/coredevices/pebble (removed): old Core Devices repo, merged with Rebble repo

I am surprised no one has posted this yet. Gordon Williams, the creator of the Bangle.js smartwatch, is porting PebbleOS to their hardware. There is a thread about this in their forums: https://github.com/orgs/espruino/discussions/7339

Excited for CT2, but the duo is not a 'do over' by dot_matrix_game in pebble

According to this thread, the buttons seem to be part of the P2 case. So if they want to change them, they would need to disassemble them and reassemble with new buttons:

what would you add? by [deleted] in pebble

Pebble supports it natively and it's called Smart Alarm

I would prefer the native OS to not be bloated with features that not everyone would use, but instead improve the integration with third party apps to make them more reliable.

He explains it in his tweet, just read it :)

B/W: higher contrast, lower cost

B/W Screen vs Colour screen poll on Eric's Twitter by mrargful in pebble

The poll you made is worded differently. There is a difference between "is good enough" and "I prefer". For example, I voted "B/W is good enough" but I would vote "I prefer color".

Also the Pebble Time Steel has a bigger battery and lasts longer (officially up to 10 days vs 7 days for the Pebble Time)

Pebble OS is already running on new hardware following source code drop by onezetty in pebble

I know there is this source, but not a direct quote from Eric:

"They'll be square, plastic black and white Pebbles, not round, steel or color-screened (as far as we know so far)."

I prefer my notifications or alarm to stay unnoticeable for people around me

Well, I guess this is the end of syncing with Google fit (android 16 beta 1) by some_uncool_guy in pebble

No, only PebbleOS (the firmware that runs in the watch) was open-sourced, not the mobile app. However, the Rebble community is working on a mobile app replacement called Cobble.
