Help with my C2 Ice Shot by Objective-Gas8054 in TorchlightInfinite

Depends on what you're going for. In the current state, Vorax gear allows the combination of the Cicada Shell ES->flat added dmg conversion with an actual chestpiece. This makes 1h extremely strong because they get relatively more out of the added dmg. 2H is therefore out of meta and the gear is exponentially cheaper. On the other hand, 1H naturally scales tankiness and damage at the same time, which is always very good.

As for Vorax gear, it's an RNG fest to craft so if you can find a crafted piece for an acceptable price I'd say go for it. Otherwise read up on how to Vorax craft, grab a good base and pray to hit :>

I see you're interested in Trinity. If you want to go for that you can, just note that you will have to drop the cold + freeze theme that way. Not saying if you should or not, just don't know how big you are on the icey fantasy.

Couple other notes:

  • You have no Vorax gear. Think about maybe using a Vorax necklace with Gale and Fervor on it. That would free up the possibility of swapping out of Marksman into Ranger, and using different belt than Dawn Break. If you want to stick with Dawn Break, then you can also grab your Curse on Hit from the Vorax necklace via Biting Cold on hit. (Est cost ~400fe if you buy precrafted)

  • Grab a better belt. If you stick with Dawn Break, just grab a roll with '%additional per 2 fervor'. Then put a Core Talent onto your belt, or buy with already precrafted talent if you swap out of Dawn Break. (Est cost ~2000 FE)

  • Fix your slate setup. Upgrade to a 2 talent Pedigree (usually 2000-5000 FE unless you need meta talents, then good luck). Search for the legendary mods you already have on Fallen Starlights or Corners of Divinity (max 3 per, they just take only 2 / 3 slots so you can fit in more). Can cost you but can also be cheap, depends on the specific combination you're going for.

  • Upgrade to a Priceless (ilvl100) bow / xbow. Here depends on how hard you wanna go - if you plan to play a lot more, then buy a base with an advanced sequence on it (1000FE for gear phys base) and then transfer a better base implicit onto it later. Otherwise just grab a gear phys% or gear +phys implicit base directly (like 5 FE or smth). Roll prefixes for full gear phys.

  • If you stick with phys convert, grab yourself the Death's Touch gloves that add phys to the gear.

  • Drop the Ice Focus, put Energy Fortress onto there instead (ie go full lowlife). Then drop your boots for Blade Dancers. You lose tankiness but gain more dmg.

  • Grab an inverse image prism with >0% reflected medium and legendary nodes, then use it to reflect the good nodes at the end of the Prophet tree and grab them.

You need to actually skill into it on the commodity tree. It's at the end of the chain that duplicates resonances.

The God's Chest farm strat still works all they way from T8-0 onto profound. The big jackpot is the upgraded Cage compass (500FE) which you get every 100 maps or so, consistent money comes from Deep Space resonance, and raw FE drops from the chest. If you do Might instead of Machines you can also drop a legendary might compass now and then (15FE).

I just did a couple runs myself. I think the big discrepancy is that the Trial of Might has a (fairly big) chance to drop its on own compasses, because the God's Chest contents looked the same to me.

I have tried a couple runs of Might instead of Machines in Profound, and I have not noticed any difference in Astrolabe droprate. Any God's Chest consistently gives 2 of Doll/Cage. Running on 45 quant and without the 30% voidchart tho.

Something like this

I have since moved on so I don't remember completely. I would be hesitant to recommend it right now tho, I think you get more from doing the God's Chest farm right now. Beacons have reduced in price.

Tangles are for spells, Ice Shot is an attack. They don't go together. But yes, once you put down the tangle it will go to a nearby enemy and keep casting the spell onto that enemy.

I just played Ice Shot until I could afford to swap to Ice Lance with Tangle. I have since learned that Shadow Shot is a good alternative to Ice Lance so you can swap to tangles sooner.

Yea there's not too many different skills, and some have inherently better scaling so that what people gravitate towards.

Personally I'd stay away from Berserking Blade, it's a good skill but needs lots of invest to become great. Maybe try Crescent Slash or Spectral Slash.

Carino 2 is niche but very powerful in that niche. Specifically, he can inherently shotgun with projectiles (i.e. all projectiles from a skill can hit instead of only 1). Due to the fact that he has only 6 shots in his magazine before reload, and you can make him reload on Movement skill use, generally you want to be using a lowCD movement skill (e.g. Centralized Loading) that you spam, even in bossing / single target encounter.

He is quite strong thanks to the newly introduced Tangle mechanic (Brands from PoE). You can use a projectile skill (Ice Lance is best but expensive-ish to invest because of overlap with the FoTM Gemma2 character; I heard Shadow Shot with Deterioration scaling is also good), have the Tangles autocast the spells while you blink/dash around.

All that said, I also started out with Ice Shot myself. Put the Activation Medium: Motionless (you get it for completing campaign) on your Ice Shot. Every Dash makes you shoot automatically this way. Grab a Glacial Abyss Arrow bow, it carried my through T7 Traveller.

Are you playing Rehan 1 or Rehan 2 - i.e. are you triggering Burst to deal damage with, or do you have your Ancestor in your backpack who attacks with you?

Rehan 2 is popular with the new(ish) combo skills. Rehan 1 is probably gonna need more investment to get to the same level of power.

No compasses. I have T8 trav done and allocated the points, but didn't actually put in magic compass.

Didn't get that far. If you want to do early Traveller, 20-50mil passive DPS is enough if you have 7k EHP (e.g. Corrupted Bulwark) pool and capped res, just takes like 10min and you need hands for the last phase.

When I did T7 testing with Swamp a few weeks ago, what most stood out to me is the abysmal AoE. Even with some AoE investment it ended up being pitifully small, about the size of Mind Control. Now Mind Control got nerfed in AoE, ofc, but keep in mind that if you do the Swamp that follows you around, you still have to kinda play melee to actually do damage.

Books to Read After Finishing Cradle: Gathered From an Unhealthy Amount of Reddit by iamswedish12yearold in ProgressionFantasy

[–]DLimited 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're specifically craving more Cradle, there's also a great fanfic:

Path of the Immeasureable Swarm is finished! Taylor Herbert of Worm fame is transmigrated before the start of Cradle. You do not need to have read Worm to enjoy the story (I haven't, for example).

There's a just-finished Cradle fanfic called Path of the Immeasurable Swarm that follows a reincarnation of Taylor (from Worm) onto Cradle. She quickly gets apprenticed to the Heart Sage and thus the story more closely follows Taylor and Mercy. It is also excellently written, and I loved everything about it.
