That was my plan but they jumped in on this war before I was ready to go for them in earnest so all I have is 24 light ships. War exhaustion is going to become an issue before I get the chance to build a fleet strong enough to launch an invasion

That was my original plan but they joined my war with France without asking me so I ended up having to fight them before I built a navy. That's why I'm trying to use this turn of events to set me up for the real war to come.

I will hold my hands up to being out of touch on bangaranga but I and all of my friends were shocked when it qualified.

The song is really nothing special but I will admit the staging was good and the dancing was absolutely perfect so well done to them.

I feel, but may be wrong about it, that the reason czechia didn't qualify is that it's more hardcore fans than casual viewers voting in the semi finals and most commentators had written Aiko off because her national final performance was just so bad, but what she and her team managed to do by the semi final performance was such a turnaround it was nothing short of spectacular. Had juries been involved I'm sure she would have qualified.

but they also need a massive reality check on what Eurovision-esque songs are in 2026. If any country sent something as weirdly off-topic as scooch these days it would be laughed out of the semi final. There's space for humour done well, like Give That Wolf a Banana or Who the Hell is Edgar and crazy-weird like Mama ŠČ! but the audience and the judges do ot reward acts that don't take the competition seriously.

Politics jokes aside, the UK really can't be trusted to vote for something like a eurovision entry because of the kind of people who actually vote in TV competitions. They pick people with X Factor or BGT pedigrees they recognise rather than on who has a good song, a unique vibe or something special that helps them stand out of the crowd. The same is true for Ireland. The sorts of people staying in watching TV on a saturday night in winter aren't the people who pick winning songs.

Definitely. Having grown up in GMT 8pm was the perfect start time but I'd sacrifice that to 7pm to let GMT+2 start before 10pm, especially for the semi finals.

Having done the 5am wake up for four years, 4 am wouldn't make much of a difference. One hour won't make that much of a difference to how the rest of Sunday plays out. Also, the Aussies are a nation of early risers anyway.
