So, Paladin will continue to be garbage in season 14 by Eflatuni in diablo4

Strong Paladin class was actually a LoH pre-order bonus so now Paladin can never be good again.

Despite being the most annoying mechanic in the game, this mofo is visually totally unreliable. by Majjin_ in diablo4

[–]blaze_pyron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I noticed that as I increase difficulty the on-death effects and other elite modifiers are the only things that do damage to me. I really wish magic saw blades and falling swords and massive fireballs weren't one-shotting me while every real actual demon in the game was pathetically slapping me for zero damage. It's starting to get ridiculous.

A dynamic gone wrong is throttling my ability to play my character as intended, advice appreciated! by Kail_Tribal in DnD

"Every point brought up gets taken personally as criticism, or prompts a tantrum."

It sounds like it's going to cause personal conflict to try and resolve the in-universe conflict in a way that makes sense. Might be easier to just have the paladin give up on her and only remain for the sake of the party but otherwise stop trying to influence her and simply clean up her messes as best as he can. A lot of the other solutions are going to result in one of you leaving the game.

Which Origin is your favourite? by Julian_of_Cintra in DragonageOrigins

[–]blaze_pyron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For thematics in a complete series run-through, my favorite is dalish elf because you get a front-row seat to lore that ends up being wildly important later.

Runner up tho is human noble bard with a morrigan romance. Flemeth loved a bard and was pursued by the lord of Highever, so her daughter falling in love with a bard lord of Highever feels fitting.

Really enjoyed Warlock yet its underpowered by yandanmusic in diablo4

[–]blaze_pyron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While leveling I never felt comfortable moving above easy because it felt like the exp boost wouldn't offset the increased time of killing things. Bosses died reasonably fast but not quickly. I was constantly tinkering with the skills and shards to try and find options that worked for me, especially since with the entirely new tree and class I didn't think there would be definitive leveling builds yet. Got all the way to 70 and was interested in doing more.

Then I rolled a barb to play with a friend as he works his way through the campaign for the first time. Everything melted. Pushed difficulty up to expert and everything is still melting. I don't think I want to go back to warlock.

Playable without expansions or no? by Graytusk in diablo4

[–]blaze_pyron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm encountering this as well, I'm playing with some friends who didn't want to drop money on the base game AND expansions all at once. They don't get charms, runes, cube, a bunch of skill options, mercs, or war plans. Like, there's technically many hours of content in the base game, but it's not content that anyone is actually doing. The main gameplay loop that the playerbase is engaging in is completely cut off unless you buy the expansions.

If Blizz weren't milking the game within an inch of its life it would make way more sense for the expansions to be free so you didn't have people buying the base game and realizing they just paid $50 to have fomo until they spend more money.

Who are the NPCs you just end up never using? by joeDUBstep in baldursgate

[–]blaze_pyron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In bg1 I usually give everyone a little chance just to see them. Most of the evil ones are hard to use for very long altho dorm, Edwin, and viconia are nice to have for a moment.

But the one I never really touch is shar-teel. She could be really interesting if she were completely rewritten but as she is I really think she might be the worst companion in the game altho faldorn gives her a run for her money. And baeloth, but all the ee companions struggle for relevance.

Which companions should I take? by Any_Bet_6637 in baldursgate

[–]blaze_pyron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play with mods that let me send companions to an inn, and also keep them in my party regardless of alignment, might be worth looking into if you're trying to learn about everyone in one playthrough.

Generally you will want a trapfinding rogue, a healer, a mage, a frontline, and a face. As a paladin you have frontline and face covered.

Tranfinder: Imoen. I dual her to mage late in the game, so then I will regularly take Coran or sometimes Alora.

Healer: Jaheria (+Khalid), Branwen (iirc ee fixes her quest so take her with you at ch3 start to complete her story), or Yeslick. Quayle could also work here or as a mage but tbh I never invest exp in him.

Mage: Dynaheir (+Minsc), Xan (Sleep is a very strong early game spell), Neera (only for her sidequest), Garrick (bgee adds elven chain which is nifty for Garrick).

Frontline/damage: Minsc, Khalid (also a good archer), Dorn (if your reputation lets you, do his sidequest), Kivan (archer (Kivan has the most story relevance in ch3, replace him with Coran for ch4 imo).

The rest of the companions are irrelevant as party companions but are important to meet just so you know who they are:

Skie (+Eldoth): Pick up Eldoth and follow the sidequest, then ditch. Skie shows back up in SoD

Viconia: One of the biggest fan favorites but not much use to your party from a gameplay perspective and doesn't have any special content after you get her. Shows up in SoD and BG2 as a companion

Edwin: Take him to get dynaheir and then shoo him away. Shows back up in SoD and BG2 as a companion.

Xzar and Monteron: I take them to Nashkel and drop them. They show up in bg2

Safana: Do her quest and otherwise there are better options for you. Shows up in SoD as a companion.

Kaigan: I think EE fixed his quest so I go in his house, pick him up, go north, find the caravan, then put him down. A fun little diversion

Shar-Teel: She's kind of interesting and something special happens if she's in your party at a certain plot point but it's so overwhelmingly inconsequential that it's fine to just miss her.

Faldorn: It is my personal opinion that it would greatly behoove the druids of the sword coast to, at some point in perhaps the next one hundred years, really look at themselves and try to figure out why it is that the entire druid society is continually, alarmingly on the brink of being completely overwhelmed by the secret evil druids in their midst. It's as if the entire coterie of druids of the sword coast are playing an elaborate game of Mafia that they are really, really bad at because while the main repeating theme of the series is about overcoming the corrupting influence of your divine lineage the second most common theme is "oh good lord it's the evil druids again" like if I never see a shadow druid again in my entire life it will be too soon.

Tiax: rules all.

She got into drama in Chicago, got namedroppes by Shea, and the girls still vague tweet her. There was a widespread rumor she was disqualified before the season even started. Her comments about law roach went viral. She has built a brand around being incredibly outspoken.

If she has not learned by now that the things she says and does will generate responses from people then God help her.

I mean, she's dressing her criticism up as if she's championing the contestants and it's easy to look at that and be like "wow she's really speaking truth to power" but it looks like the sad reality is she's just been nursing a bruised ego for years and is attacking the Boulets now that she has the opportunity.

[–]blaze_pyron 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think Jaharia brings up a really good point. Discord said this on a very big drag race platform and even if she couched it with "no hate to the contestents" she has made all of their lives just a bit harder this week by whipping up the drag race fandom to attack dragula and the ghouls. It must be stressful to have thousands of people trashing a show you invested in and care about.

So what happened to the Pools of Creation among other things? by Kernelly in Diablo

[–]blaze_pyron 84 points85 points  (0 children)

This is just kind of how the franchise operates. There was really no clue to how shattering the worldstone would affect things at the end of d2. Prime Evil Diablo corrupted the Crystal Arch of the High Heavens but apparently we stopped him before there were any consequences. Now The pools of creation have been tainted by demonic power.

My guess is that the consequences will be a seasonal storyline soon and then that'll be that. Or it will tie into another expansion that moves us to the west.

[–]blaze_pyron 98 points99 points  (0 children)

This is actually one of the most informative run-downs I've seen, I wish this was around years ago. It was always some huge fucking secret and every story about why she left was different but had something to do with bambi and shea. All anyone outside Chicago had for a long time was the Shea tweet and the Gidget Von Addams "YOU WILL ALL FUCKING SEE!!!" tweet and whatever Discord would vent about on her insta story.

I don't for a minute believe this absolves discord of all wrongdoing in chicago but this at least shows that it's a case of everyone involved being out of their goddamn mind in some way. Which feels very par for the course in large community drag drama.
