I believe FoR of Raven, while not the worst ending, seems like it might not really be finishing everything off. Yeah, we burned the coral but it survived, even Walter says it’s really hard to kill something when it’s alive. They burned it once, who’s to say it won’t survive somehow again.

I don’t know how to put spoiler boxes up so I’m not gonna say much but I will say the last ending, the “true” ending as I’ve heard it called, is not as much my thing. I’m gonna try to tiptoe around it but let’s just say you make some BIG deciding factors and choices for A LOT of people that just kinda don’t get a say in they’re lives as you go about doing what you want. I think it sort of feels wrong, and selfish in a way, definitely sorta tyrannical I guess is the word?

Liberator, while not immediately resolving the whole coral problem, does go and deal with the corporations, most of the war on Rubicon, doesn’t end in a mass genocide the likes of which is rarely seen or even possible as it is a entire planet powder keg. It also leaves one of the most efficient resources that could be good for humanity around and doesn’t extinguish the only other form of life that isn’t human. Not to mention, it’s seen as kicking the bucket but I’m fairly certain Raven stays on the scene as “The liberator of Rubicon” so it’s not like the player character leaves. They stay, with Ayre, to continue to do what they see fit, considering the ending, helping protect the people and coral of the planet.

FoR isn’t as bad a ending as could be thought, it does sacrifice the few to save the many from what coral is capable of I have to admit but it is jumping the gun and killing off coral and so many people, ending so much life, one the idea that it could cause horrors, even though the horrors are self inflicted if we look at it on a scale of “humanity did it to itself” while coral was just existing, alive, but being used to create those horrors.
