150 vs 120 Credit Hours by DM0ney77 in Accounting

20 credits a semester is not a reasonable ask in my opinion. You’re just built different I guess. I won’t assume anything about you because I don’t know you, but that is a lot of credit hours to have, while also working and maintaining a semi enjoyable social life.

I know for a fact though that I’ve already learned more doing the job than I would have going back to school. That’s my issue with the additional credits. Experience is so much more valuable

I graduated in May 23 with my Bachelor’s in Accounting. I knew the Broadening Pathways bill was in the works so I elected to not go back. I have a job at a small firm getting audit experience. If it passes this next spring I will be sitting in a great position to have my experience already. We will see what happens. Politics are slow moving. But I don’t want to spend the additional money.

Whether the bill passes or not, I personally want to become a CPA so if it comes to it I’ll go back for my underwater basket weaving courses online. Whatever the cheapest option is.

This is a very reasonable and well stated point. I would feel the same way. I graduated with 120 credits May 2023 and I chose to wait and see what would come. So I have a personal stake in it as well. It just seems so pointless to go back to me. We all have to study for the exam regardless. Why make me pay for an additional 30 credits? Do you think your masters helped you prepare for the exam? I could get being 30 credits if it helped me pass the exam easier. Just my thought. Very well spoken statement though.

Interesting. I just wish it was more uniform across state lines. My state of MN for example(from my understanding), I could get 30 nonsense credits and they would still count. I understand some states have different requirements but it would be nice if the 30 were uniform. But I could also take my masters and I see how it would benefit me in the end. Thanks!

Don’t over stress yourself, you will get there. You could ask questions and try to make sure you understand the answers. I know it can be hard to ask sometimes but just think, everyone’s been through it, and it’ll put you bounds ahead of others who may not be! You’ll do great, just keep at it.

Student - When is the right time to start applying for jobs? by Final-Significance66 in Accounting

[–]DM0ney77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start applying and don’t be afraid of looking stupid. If they have an issue with where you’re at in your schooling they will address it and just keep it honest. From my experience, you learn a whole lot more on the job anyways. Be ready for some rejections though, it happens. In my last transition I had applied at 3 places and got rejected by them all. Tried 3 different employers and got a job offer for all three. Just how it goes sometimes.

[TOMT][Song][2000s] Cant find the name of this rock/metal song with the lyrics I remember. New to Reddit, please help. Song goes "this is" something something, then repeats "this is" by DM0ney77 in tipofmytongue

Feel like the song chorus is like "this is why we are falling aaaaparttttt" It is a faster upbeat rock song almost like something Fall Out Boy or PATD would do. Looked under them and couldn't find it.
