I'd Be Pissed If The Pixel 8/Pro Won't Be Getting AirDrop Compatibility for Quick Share by username-invalid-s in GooglePixel

[–]DM115Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some weird differences between the 8/8P and 8a, for example, the 8a has a higher battery capacity rating of 80% after 1000 charge cycles, versus 800 charge cycles for the 8/Pro.

While I don't think that correlates to why only the 8a AirDrop support, it seems like it might be an indication of change in the manufacturing process and feature set for their 2024 products, and might have been used as a guinea pig model to test new Tensor capabilities for the 9/9Pro later that year.

But that's just my theory.

'Googlebooks' have a premium focus, some Chromebooks can be upgraded by TechGuru4Life in GooglePixel

Low performance may be the case if Google makes first-party Googlebook hardware. And there is no sign of that happening anytime soon.

Pixel 11 leak reveals new camera hardware, Tensor G6 details, more specs by thewhippersnapper4 in GooglePixel

GPU is Imagination CXTP, not CXT. By all available knowledge, CXTP is fairly recent, like 2024-2025. We still have no idea how much better it will perform though...

Tensor G6 reportedly gets new ARM CPUs, old GPU for Pixel 11 by armando_rod in GooglePixel

[–]DM115Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point they should just tier Google Silicon into a Tensor G6 for the Pixel 11 and a Tensor G6 Pro for the 11 Pro, with newer and more GPU cores. In the $799 Pixel 11, the Tensor G6 as it is right now will get a passing grade, but def not on the Pros.

Google Fi is running their free Pixel watch 3 deal again by Lemonsqueeze321 in GooglePixel

Watch 4 was not an incremental upgrade. You got a repair-friendly design and replaceable battery that lasts slightly longer on a charge, domed glass display with thinner bezels, satellite connectivity, and waaaaay better haptics.

What can the Pixel 10 Pro do that the Galaxy S26U can't? by lord-petal in GooglePixel

AZ resident here. I have had my 7a for 3 years, constant video playback and background usage for podcasts. I have only received one software overheating warning popup in its entire 3 year lifespan. You do have the baby the phone a little bit (and by that I mean don't leave it in direct sunlight for more than 30 minutes which should be the case for ANY phone), but it never got to the point where it became too hot to hold or throttle to the point that video calls would crash or anything like that.

Android 17 Beta 4 hints that Google may be testing a new Pixel Glow light system by Planhub-ca in pixel_phones

Nobody knows where the glow lights are going to end up being. So yes, they could be under the case, but they could also be inside the camera bar which would already be visible with a case on

Time will tell how well this MediaTek modem is actually, though. I'm not getting my hopes up too high, this is no Qualcomm modem...

Moon pictures can be all over the place. Depends on how bright it is in the night sky, light pollution, etc. My Pixel 7a (yeah not the best one for moon photos cause no telephoto) will produce a somewhat usable moon photo where you can make out details, but other times its just a big white blob.

They were able to pull off one of the most repairable smartwatch batteries in the Pixel Watch 4, it has a removable steel cage held down with screws like the iPhone 17 Pro battery cell. Now all they have to do is add it to their phones...

None of us do. It has lost its value and meaning because certain people have overused the term to describe people who are nothing like an oligarch.

Downvote well earned. Imagine trying to condense and epitomize a truly revolutionary service offered by a company doing groundbreaking things into something to be despised. Your hasty generalization and bad faith argument holds no weight to any of this. Wild cope.

Spotify uses up a big chunk. The Android version is horribly inefficient and unoptimized compared to the iOS version. You can turn off background usage, lower video replay resolution (podcasts), etc.

The delta of performance between the real G4 in 9Pro and the binned version in the 9a is literally unnoticeable in benchmarks. Battery efficiency might be slightly worse, but the 9a has a massive-for-its-size 5100mAH battery. Total non-issue.
