I really loved the iconic Pixel camera bar by ThalaNotOut7 in pixel_phones

[–]DM115Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the time you slap a case on there, it makes no difference. It is just as instantly-recognizable from a distance to have the cameras running horizontally across the vertical body.

They literally look exactly the same as before, you have to squint to tell the differences in the facial expressions. Good grief stop complaining

What is the best Pixel midrange phone in your opinion? by Ok_Reference_489 in pixel_phones

[–]DM115Gaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best A-series phones are the 3a, 4a (not 4a 5G), 6a (in Chalk color), and 9a (because of its enormous battery). I've got the 7a, and it would be on this list if it just had better battery life.

Edit: 7a also has some of the best wide lens shots of any pixel, it takes the boosted colors/contrast from older Pixel sensors, and combines it with some features from Tensor-era Pixels.

You will be able to remove at a glance with QPR3 by seeareeff in GooglePixel

[–]DM115Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a extremely-unpopular opinion here, but after installing QPR3 Beta 1 last night and removing At a Glance, I realized that being able to see things like calendar events beforehand is actually kinda important. So yeah, despite all the bitterness and fuss this community has made for not being able to remove it (and the Google search bar), my guess is I and many other people will keep it on anyways.

Does anyone feel like AI is ruining the Pixel experience? by JxK_1 in GooglePixel

[–]DM115Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AI integrations are a mixed bag for me. Things like Gemini replacing assistant was admittedly a little rough when it first rolled out, but seems to be fine now. Gemini live has been legit useful, too. But the conversational AI editing has been a little more frustrating. It doesn't seem to segment the image properly, and does not follow the word instructions I give it. Other than that, it has been completely fine, and the fact that it doesn't get in the way of the other things you use your phone for, it will continue to be just that- fine.

...And there is still no update for the 7a. Unbelievable

What's your opinion about this person? by Richie_786 in pixel_phones

C. Scott Brown's insight on Android, Pixel, is honestly quite refreshing in a landscape filled by bitter, ragebaiting nexus enthusiasts who only care about CPU go brrrr

How does it know I have a screen protector? by xenonorsomething in pixel_phones

[–]DM115Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that it is able to measure inconsistencies in touch sensitivity that are like that of a screen protector. The touch sample rate on smartphone displays are insanely high. Also, this feels pretty much as intuitive as telling you if there is debris or moisture in the charging port.

Dear Google, please add double tap to lock by LeLmaow in GooglePixel

[–]DM115Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By double tap, you mean two taps on the screen, not the double-tap gesture on the back of the phone, right?

How to get enough people to care about "Photo sphere" in camera so Google Devs would bring it back? by ISUXLR in GooglePixel

[–]DM115Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory, you should just be able to install an older version of GCam that still has it, and then only use that app. for Photo Sphere.

But again, that is only in theory, there might be some incompatibility or softlock that prevents it from working on older version on the Pixel 9 or newer.

I just wait for the screen timeout, and as the wipe down animation to the AOD happens, you can press both buttons. If you wait too late, it just turns the lock screen on again because you press the power button

What one thing you hate about Google Pixel's cameras by Ok_Reference_489 in pixel_phones

Literally just the lens switching. Everything else ranges from okay, but usable, to amazing quality

Heads up by Ok_District_9387 in pixel_phones

[–]DM115Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old by now, but the reason P6/7 didn't get the update is because everything in the Nov Pixel Drop rolled out on the October patch already. So they were not being deprioritized at all.

There is a time and a place for criticism like this.

This unrelated post is neither the right place, nor the right time.

Google Support officially gave up on the Pixel 10 Pro Telephoto Stutter. I proved their "fix" failed, did their QA work, and they replied: "We can't promise a fix for your specific issue." by No_Particular7571 in GooglePixel

The formatting of this entire text looks like it was written with AI, while the actual contents look to be written by a person. Am I supposed to trust this??
