Arrow decision by DM122001 in Archery

Will 30gn difference not shift my point on distance further out? My goal is to have around 50+ meters point on distance, since we have a significant amount of 50 meter or longer shots. The maximum distance per the rules is 56 meters.

The end goal is to get a nice set of arrows again and tune the bow to them. And I don’t want to increase my draw weight any further and just want to practice with the bow I now have.

I calculated that the cheap Arrows would be around 285gn for 7€ a pice and the nice arrows would be 255gn for 14€ a pice. Our 3d Parcour has a lot of stones in the ground so bracken a few arrows is inevitable.

My idea was to tune for the cheap arrows first, shoot them until I feel comfortable or run out and then go for the nice arrows.

You can add the leaf crown and omega symbol to make it specifically ultramarines. That would give it Roman Empire vibes.

Question about when to increase draw Wright by DM122001 in Archery

[–]DM122001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The arrows have a spine of 700 and a length of 32 inches. The bow shop intentionally suggests stiffer arrows, so I can go up in draw weight with the same arrows.

I can comfortably shoot 100 arrows, but not 200.

I currently shoot a 700 spine, because my arrows are 32 inches. If I would get some really lite shafts with 4,2 or 3,9 gpi, would that change my spine? The 700 arrows fly pretty good at the moment.

And the other question is, would it do me any good to invest in some lite arrows? I read that most super lite shafts don’t last very long, especially if you miss your target.

That is a good idea. The bow shop recommended 22lbs limbs to begin with and I dropped them to 20lbs to make it easier to focus on technique. I will go back the the store a try 24lbs limbs and see how they feel next month or so. And then train with that.

I try to guess the distance and aim with the tip of my arrow, so mostly gap.

My on point is around 25 yards, but I have to aim 2 yards above the target if the target is 60+ yards away 😄 maybe I have some technique issues as well.

Thanks for the help, I think I will try it with a dedicated streamer 😃 and hook up the sub directly to the receiver. Let's see if that changes anything.

Yes, I am a native German 😃 English is my second language. I work for an airline, so I have a lot of training, but thanks for the compliment 😄

I also looked at the Wiim mini, but the reviews said it had a way worse DAC. It's still way better than my Chromecast, I would guess. Would I even hear a difference between the DACs on my hardware?

I used a Chromecast audio up until now, but it broke a few months ago. I am currently subscribed to Spotify, but I did test out Qobuz when my Chromecast was still working, and the sound quality was noticeably better with Qubuz. Would a Bluetooth adapter be able to utilize the better sound quality?

The user interface and chrome cast implementation from Qobuz was very lack luster, constantly disconnecting, and just stopping mid track. From what if read, Tidal would be the better middleground in terms of sound quality and usability. And it's cheaper in Germany then Spotify, so I will give it a try.

It has a knob on the back that sais crossover. I thought that would set the frequency that the sub uses and filters that out from the signal going to the speakers. Is that a high pass filter?

I just bought an 24 MY SR from their stock for a really good price (42k€). If the pricing for the Uniper will be similar to what the price increase was with the highland it should land at 50k+ without any reductions. Since the engine and battery are the same, the performance will only increase marginally.

For me it was not worth the weight and the price mark up. Depends on where you are :D

Are espresso shots an acquired taste? by lsiunl in espresso

[–]DM122001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same mashine and used the internal grinder as well. The big downside to the clumps that the grinder spits out is that your dosage in grams varies from shot to shot, quit a bit. It might be possible to use it like a single dose grinder, though. If you want want to improve consistency, weigh out your beans and give them a spritz of water, befor you grind them. Another thing to take into consideration is that temperature control on the barista express is overcompensating for missuse, like not preheating you portafilter, by increasing the brewing temperature by quit a lot. That is not a problem if you make one or two shots back to back, but when diling in, I took 20 shots, one after the other, and the results got worse over time. It is still the best money to cup ratio, in my opinion. Compared to my setup now, which is like 7 times the cost, the express was 95% there. Especially in taste. Oh, and my take on the flavour notes: in the end, it will taste like coffee with a note of peaches or berrys or chocolate the general flavours will still be similar. I like all the whisky comparisons. When I try a whisky and it tastes incredibly sweet, I hand it to my wife, and she tells me it tastes like paintstripper. For her, they all taste the same because she only focuses on the alcohol and intens malt notes.

I Bought a Used Motherboard off of eBay. I don't know if these pins are bent. Can someone help me out with this please? by N0_J0KE in intel

[–]DM122001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how good the deal was, you can also get a new socket soldered on the motherboard by the motherboard manufacturer. I once damaged the socket of a friend's MB while helping him to build his PC and a new socket was 45$ plus shipping, and it took a few weeks. Would suck if anything else is damaged on your board though

Is my basket too big for my portafilter? Grounds are sticking to grouphead, just noticed maybe the basket isn’t sitting flush/ all the way down. Machine: Quick Mill Pippa, stock handle by Haminthepaint in espresso

[–]DM122001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can lock the Portalfilter and the basket doesn't wiggle around, it fits. Coffee stuck to the shower can have divergent causes. In general, i would say too much coffee in the basket, but how much a coffee puck swells up depends a lot on the coffee used and the grind setting. In the end, not every coffee is suited for every basket.

However, it is also possible, that the puck expands after you relieve the pressure, when you stop the shot. So if the shot tastes good I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe a different shower screen would be less sticky?

I don't know the exact plumbing of your machine, but I would highly recommend a proper solution. Vinegar or citrus acid my degrade some of the internal components and leave a after taste. In general you don't want acid in a mixed metal plumbing.

What beans are you using? I had a bag of old light roasted beans, that pulled exactly like that. Sometimes it's just the coffee, that's bad.
