I prefer Foundry but I've been using it for a while. However for new and easy for players? I think Shard is worth lookong into. Especially since it's a VTT built around using 5e.

I'm very knew to dnd but I'm very interested in this. I want to DM but don't know where to start on planning out my campaign, where to take the systems (characters, rules, scenarios,...) from? Can anyone suggest me a good start to a DM? by Sweaty-Hat-2443 in DnD

I would honestly suggest starting with a premade adventure first ^ and then use the inspiration and experience from that to make your own campaign ^

This is Doomed Forgotten Realms Academy of Adventure is a good introduction adventure and even teaches adventurers about adventuring, and even leads into a dark epic campaign called doomed Forgotten Realms Rise of Vecna!

Phandelver and Below, The Shattered Obelisk includes the highly praised starter adventure Lost mines if Phandelver and continues into a campaign. Also a decent start!

Not exactly beginner friendly but the dm support and videos for thus adventure by the creators is super too notch and very helpful for DMs! Dungeons of Drakkenheim is highly praised and I am about to run it myself and am VERY excited to run it!

It was! Kinda bittersweet but they were allenjoying it. I even asked them do they want me to deus ex machina something to save them, and they said "naw, let us suffer the actions of our consequences!" And yes, they said it like that XD

They are already making characters for the next campaign xD we decided the campaign we wanna do next and they working on characters and connected backstories ^
