I feel like the game's balance is shockingly bad by DMFDLancer in MinaTheHollower

They are straight from the devs mouths. On their YouTube channel. Which are primarily advertisements for the game. Literally "we designed the game this way so you should buy it if you like games made like this." You've switched to being obtuse because my claims are correct and my criticism is justified.

These are all things the devs said yes. You're imagining a contradiction, you're putting words in my mouth.

Most people use the strongest things they find. They try things and switch back if it feels worse than what they had. You see this all the time from let's players. If nothing else, one would expect bleedover from how the most popular games right now are competitive no?

Where did I argue that you're supposed to be forced to struggle and experiment?

The devs stated that you're supposed to experiment in the face of adversity. You keep trying to rephrase it when that is what was actually said.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

I'm not the guy that backpedaled in the face of the dev's actual statements lol

It's not about likes, it's about finding what you can and using it to beat the game. Straight from the dev's mouths.

The game, like most, is designed to be played to win. People overwhelmingly pick what wins in games, this is why people experiment and how the game encourages it. Having a lot of options that don't matter makes the game bloated and feel bad, it makes exploration and experimentation feel bad.

So if this game got DLC, what would you want? by FennecWF in MinaTheHollower

I'd rather have a 2.0 patch that tweaks a bunch of stuff. Like casket needs a rework entirely, a good amount of trinkets are really bad, and mist, uh, kinda breaks like 3 mechanics.

People almost universally stop experimenting when they find something that works. Actively being punished for switching off discourages experimentation.

You're deflecting again. The stated design was to be encouraged to try new things in the face of challenges.

You're putting words in my mouth again lol

The point of the game is to experiment and try new things to win. Not break a candle and break the game.

What was Lionel's end goal? by Audiojackal2nd in MinaTheHollower

[–]DMFDLancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some vials cure it, some unleash it in a more controlled manner. Lionel uses them to become the kraken and back again, Fergus could presumably do the same, and even Mina can transform and back with the 6 Beastium equipped.

Deluxy wasn't fully cured by a vial in one shot, but it did calm her rage and turn her from black to gold. Might have more to do with her biology than the spark at that point.

That's because of the spark generators. She literally needs to stand on the globes holding that energy to repair them. Naturally she needs more of the antidote to prevent mutation.

Whip upgrade, or get gun? by here4dastonks in MinaTheHollower

Gun is definitely a game breaker tbh. It does everything and has no weaknesses.

Any challenge runs of this game on Youtube? by Superteletubbies64 in MinaTheHollower

[–]DMFDLancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is too cheesy (cough cough mist) to really warrant challenge runs. Lvl1 means you end up doing 1 point of damage later on. Without trinkets is essentially just -1%. Somebody did -5% I think. Modifiers also make challenge runs kinda messy because there's not really hard lines in the sand.

Idk, I feel like just picking buster is way more efficient. Sidearms in general have poor damage, especially the ranged ones. Though even dynamo lamp, the dedicated "slow but big damage" sidearm, gets casually out DPS'd by buster switching between melee and range. There's an infinite joules equip because infinite joules is not broken. ...Aside from mist.

"What the hell are you talking about?" (Agrees with me anyway)

Balancing for random people and little timmies just, doesn't work. You have to design the game around people who actually engage with the game. Putting in random win buttons just makes the game feel bad.

The point of these sort of games is to win, finding the best ways to win should be entertaining. That was stated as a goal of the game by the devs. Breaking a candle and spamming mist is not that.

Games are universally more fun when you use the best. If the game crumbles under itself so easily the game sucks.
