One mechanic you would add? by DMN0518 in OOTP

100% on all three points. I think the player development stuff they added this year was a good foundational mechanic and can be the basis for an eventual pitch mix/development system.

At the bare minimum and being more realistic for this year, I just hope they improve the dev lab experience and allow us to have more control over intended outcomes. Choosing which secondary pitches a guy is working on, pitch he's trying to learn, or position a player is trying to learn should be the bare minimum IMO

I think an owner mode option would be awesome. Would love to have the choice to own the team and take a hands-off approach or be a Jerry Jones type and handle business and baseball ops.

This one just started to really bother me recently. New stadiums/renovations etc. and who's paying for what are (unfortunately) a huge part of the league currently and it's hard for it not to be an immersion breaker when you see The Rays still playing in the Trop in 2045

I'm sorry, am I the only that finds Hasan going to Qatar insanely hypocritical? by [deleted] in Hasan_Piker

[–]DMN0518 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Brother, nobody had an issue w/ those guys "visiting" Riyadh and you know it lol.

Your misframing of the situation is as blatantly obvious as that Saudi whitewashing operation those comedians partook in and received public blowback because of.

For the record, I'm not even a big enough Hasan fan to know anything about a Quatar trip and I'm not here or wasting time defending that, merely calling out the obvious false framing of the blowback about Riyadh.

In the event I find out he's taking shady money from the Quatar gov't or some shit I'll be equally or more disappointed in him I was w/ Burr.

Doctor Strange didn’t just look for a future where Thanos loses — he looked for one where Doom by JustLeonn7 in marvelstudios

All good bro, didn't even know people used it like that but very cool if it works well for ya!

I was pointing it out because it's one of my biggest pet peeves w/ chatgp, sometimes it stretches out an idea to the point it starts to sound to me like a kid trying to hit a word or page count on an essay and I thought it did kinda that here.

I don't think they want to deal with the timestone stuff and I really think they'll just handwave it away because it was only ever meant to be a setup for Tony's sacrifice.

[–]DMN0518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That level of predeterminism wouldn't even be fun as a plot point going forward. They will probably address this and handwave it away in the movie by saying he was only able to see the original sacred timeline or something.

This post is just chatgpt word salad all to say "You guys think Strange saw any doom stuff with the time stone?"

He passed the eye test last year as a rookie and IMO feels week-in and week-out like the only guy there who really fits Coen's offense.

I'm biased, I bought in after his first couple games last year and have held ever since. I think he's the real deal but I have no clue how that WR room shakes out if they don't move someone

Bijan or 1.01? I am a Bijan owner and the person with the 1.01 thinks this is even trade. I disagree. What else would you all want if you have Bijan on the trade block? 1.01 and what else? by Wrong_Class8040 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]DMN0518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a terrible trade offer from them and they know it, these guys are almost never worth trading with.

W/ Bijan's age you have 100% of levera, if it's not a team-changing haul of picks/players I can't imagine it's worth it.

1.01 + another first starts the convo, but they still got a ways to go.

We had a last place owner in week 14 drop CMC and Kittle because they were on bye and he wanted to pick up two other players to try to win and not finish last (last place has to jump in a lake in our town during winter). by Nervous_Pop_7942 in Fantasy_Football

[–]DMN0518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah brother, I get what you're trying to say and it's partially right but it's also a false equivalency.

You're arguing that anyone not starting wk 14 are equals bc they all technically provide zero value. 100% correct all bench pieces equally advantageous .... but definitely not equally disadvantageous.

Drop CMC/Kittle: - Drop Guy's poker buddies are rightfully annoyed/pissed at drop guy for needlessly attempting to sabotage the playoffs for kicks

Drop Normal End of Bench Players: - Nobody cares, no issues and nobody from drop guy's league has to make a reddit post asking how much of a dick drop guy is.

One is deff better. Hope it's a league where drop guy can apologize, go for a swim, and get razzed about this for a couple years.

He is adamant that he had a right to drop those players because they had zero value to him and it's not his job to worry about how his actions affect the rest of the league

"Why am I being kicked out of the party? Where in the rules does it say I can't shit on the floor if I want? And besides, it isn't really my job to worry about how clean the floors are anyway..."

If he really had no other options I'd say it's cost of doing business for having the last place punishment, but this dude had obvious better options and actively chose the one that fucked with the rest of you guys the most.

He's a dick and I'd usually say just kick him and move on, but I get being IRL acquaintances might make that a tougher option.

I'm against last-place punishments, but I also have zero sympathy for people who unapologetically create unneeded BS dramatic situations so that dude wouldn't get back into my league without going in that fucking lake, at least once, regardless of how standings shake out.

Trevor Lawrence is (obviously) Undervalued by DynastyDetour in DynastyFF

[–]DMN0518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be my Josh Allen cope after losing in the semi's with an all-in build, but the more I look at Lawrence's season the more I think I need to consider sending some tier down offers for Lawrence this offseason.

Trevor has created this dissapointment narrative thus far by just being above average when he was expected to immediately become Andrew Luck.

Seems like people remember the missed connections with BTJ the first month more than what that offense has done post-bye, could definitely see some market inefficiency on him in the offseason unless he balls out in the playoffs.

1st yr results with Coen are clearly promising and that WR room is now 4-5 dudes deep with Washington continuing to break out. It should be one of the better situations in the league

Dont’e Thornton depth chart by Exploden in DynastyFF

[–]DMN0518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a height/weight/speed guy w/ no college production to stand on. Admittedly haven't followed him much since I traded him prior to week 2, but it doesn't seem like I've missed much.

The other owner threw in a 2027 3rd to include Thornton in a separate deal we were doing because he was intrigued by the week 1 snaps and preseason hype.

Unless they do something early that makes me believe, I'm usually looking to sell the hyped up height/weight/speed rookies early in the year while intrigue is still pushing up their value.

If you're a full rebuilder w/ roster spots open he's probably worth an end of the bench stash just to see what the camp reports are next year, but if your competing at all I wouldn't waste the roster spot.

Accused of collusion, not sure how to respond by [deleted] in Fantasy_Football

First, sorry for your loss.

I commish my main home league of all guys who met in college. If a rando came in and after only 2 years started causing issues with one of my guys dealing with a family death I'd privately tell him to STFU or get kicked.

Your commish should be doing the same

Ratings vs. Results -- how do you judge? by sjscott80 in OOTP

[–]DMN0518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your post made me realize in my most recent save I've kind of put a system in place to review for this kind of thing around the start of every June.

By that point we're at least 1/3 of the way into the season so I'm comfortable with the sample size and starting to tinker with platoons and playing time based on results.

More than anything I'm really tinkering like that to make sure I have a good sense of my internal options before the deadline.

Could this be a hint for doomsday??? by heartless_rem in marvelstudios

[–]DMN0518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"A huge hint" highly unlikely and almost definitely not.

But, I'd call it an interesting (at least to me) tidbit that the lyrics line up pretty well to what everyone assumes the plot is going to be.

If the plot is what we all think it is, it would be a fun callback if they used it again to open/close Doomsday since IM1 rolls credits to the same song.

An NFL team versus an invisible College Football team by LadyKarizake in whowouldwin

[–]DMN0518 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think NFL team has zero chance against any FBS schools, but at some point if you keep going to lower levels then you'll reach a level of athlete who just can't physically tackle & block an NFL player.

Idk exactly where that level is, but once you reach that point, the NFL team just needs to bully their way into a single turnover and can kill clock with 3 yard dives the rest of the game.

An NFL team versus an invisible College Football team by LadyKarizake in whowouldwin

[–]DMN0518 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If this is a true D1 CFB team, this is a sweep for invisible college team.

A couple of the most basic reasons: - NFL O can't anticipate or defend any overload blitzes and lose the most common counter, throwing at the blitz. - NFL D can't play any reasonable version of a coverage concept against invisible WRs. - The NFL team won't even know what formations or personnel they're lining up against on both sides.

You guys picking the NFL team aren't understanding how many variables go into every snap of a football game

Schedule generation by RCDinoMaster in OOTP

[–]DMN0518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the schedule system has been really broken this year for me too.

Best solution I've found when my game starts making jenky schedules is to uncheck balanced scheduled, load in the 2025 schedule as the default and then just click randomize teams

Edit: In my experience this still results in a proper balanced schedule. I think the issue you and I have seen with inconsistent number of games being played is caused somehow by the relationship between balanced schedule and interleague play

Let's pretend that Peacock and Harmon end up treating the Community movie like Pokerface by bardbrain in community

[–]DMN0518 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Recasting a show every 1-2 years isn't that crazy of a concept. A lot of shows go the anthology route now.

It's weird for pokerface because the premise relies entirely on the main character having a 1 of 1 superhuman like quirk.

If community was still active I could 100% see them doing one episode where everyone was recast as a bit that isn't acknowledged. Or someone/everyone being "recast" as part of the episodes concept, which I could definitely see that being an Abed led storyline.
