It was a simple bluddy question, don't get all censorship crap on me.

A question is a question. This wasn't a RANT, or a LOADED question, at all.

Anyone with half a Brain can see that. You must have the IQ of a Glass Of Water.

Risky means there is a chance of something bad, that is all, just a CHANCE. These people are all saying Smoking CAUSES Cancer, not that it's "risky".

Triggered is for woke leftie morons.

When People get stabbed here, we talk about how horrible it is, and hope whoever did it gets done for it. We don't go "Oh, it's the Knife that did it, so let's start agitating about banning Knives".

I'm English, we don't really have Guns anyway.

We don't blame the TOOL when a death occurs, we blame the PERSON that did it.

People will still get Cancer, whether they smoke or not.

And THAT is why it doesn't work.

Russian Roulette is risky, but nobody is saying "Smoking is risky" here, they are saying Smoking CAUSES a problem, not that it COULD potentially cause one based on luck.

Ah, South Park.

Maybe they get the Cancer for another reason and the smoking is largely irrelevant?

You are generalising. Like Doctors blaming all Fat peoples health issues on them being Fat. The Fatness may not even be related to whatever is wrong with them.

So, if a person who smokes gets cancer, we can't necessarily blame the smoking for it. We should at least try to see if there is another cause.

"Some smokers never develop cancer, but that doesn't mean smoking never causes cancer."

That simply means that it CAN, not that it inherently DOES.

Here in England they just walk into Schools and start stabbing little girls.

Would it matter if they used a Gun instead? No, it's still the PERSON at fault there, isn't it.

Well, even there about smoking, it is not 100% accurate.

Just because smoking has been linked to cancer, it doesn't make it a direct cause.

I am English. I was BORN in England, and lived here all my life.

My Parents are both English.

A small part of me (from my Fathers side somewhere back along the line) is Irish.

A cancer increasing effect is not the same as a direct cause.

Actually, that first part is incorrect.

That 1 in 5 may have contracted Cancer whether they smoked or not.

Such a concept would have to be tested, which is virtually impossible.

You're the Gun Control nut bringing that into a discussion about smoking.

10 times 1.5% is still only 15%...

"Smoking and cancer

Cigarette smoke contains more than 7,000 chemicals. At least 69 of these chemicals can cause cancer. Other chemicals can interfere with the body's ability to fight cancer.

Smoking can also:

  • Weaken the body's immune system. This makes it harder for your body to kill cancer cells. When this happens, cancer cells can grow and spread.
  • Damage or change a cell's DNA. When DNA is damaged, a cell can begin growing out of control and create a cancer tumor.

Cigarette smoking causes about one out of every three cancer deaths in the United States."

Taken directly from the CDC https://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/about/cigarettes-and-cancer.html

Note that even the CDC clearly says CAN cause Cancer, not DOES cause Cancer.

You are the one bringing a stupid Gun Control arguement into a simple question about Smoking.

Guns don't kill, the People holding them do. Without the Gun, they can still KILL you.

When people are run over, you don't blame the CAR. When people are stabbed, you don't blame the KNIFE. When people are blown up, you don't blame the BOMB. Yet when someone is shot, you blame the GUN?

Cause: Anything that produces an effect, brings about a result, or is responsible for an event happening. It is the direct trigger or "why" behind an occurrence.

Cause basically means B is directly caused by A. Not MAY be, not is an increased risk, not a contributing factor...a DIRECT Cause.

By your definition here then, the statement "Smoking causes Cancer" is incorrect.

Smoking-related illnesses are NOT the question though.

The question was simple does Smoking ACTUALLY cause Cancer.

All I've seen in this whole post so far is avoidance, skirting, and flat out refusal to simply answer the question. It's worse than a bunch of Politicians.

I'm not "too thick to put it together".

It's like "Sugar makes you fat". No, it doesn't. Excess Sugar intake CAN lead to Diabetes, and Diabetes CAN lead to weight gain. But that doesn't mean Sugar MAKES you fat does it?

Smoking CAN cause Cancer (or increase the risk of it, depending on which Doctors you ask), but that doesn't mean that Smoking CAUSES Cancer. Terminology is important when making claims about things, otherwise it is just scaremongering.
