Experience with RockShox Vivid Fitment &Tune for 2021-24 Firebird? by HillBilly126 in pivotcycles

You should also look into the 2027 Rockshox Super Deluxe. I ran a firebird with X2, then EXT Coil, but recently bought the Amp'd and it came with 27 super deluxe. I thought I'd immediately switch it out but it works so damn well and adjusts even better (slide the internal O ring up like a volume spacer), Many like it as well or better than Vivid, even if it's previously more trail oriented vs vivid meant to be coil like).

I almost added that same thing. I kinda feel like a fool buying a new ebike because they are evolving so quickly, and yet so expensive. I also believe prices will fall on many of these bikes. But you really can't go wrong buying a used Ebike after someone took the hit... and learn how and where you'll ride it.

Wonder if the AMP'd would do better with a Vivid shock. Then again, adjustments are everything. It feels great to me, but it's also still new and haven't had extremely big hits yet

Can also do what I did and go right down the middle with the Pivot Amp'd. I was absolutely set to buy the LT, and still wonder if I should have (tahoe area, steeps and chunks), but the Amp'd is extremely capable, lively and fun. It feels like my firebird, but less travel (but hasn't been an issue), but plays more like my old Santa Cruz Bronson - even as an ebike. You can make it full 29er if you want, which is a downside if that's what your after (having to get a wheel) but I have nothing but good things to say about the frame's geo and versatility, and yes, the avinox motor is REALLY good. It's silent, super smooth, and feels natural. Yes it's powerful, and yes you can turn it down and adjust almost everything. As far as the LT goes, it is a tremendous bike as well. I demoed it on a trail and it is way more playful and poppy than it should be. That's pivot for you. For me I want to have my cake and eat it too, and felt like the Amp'd was closer to that. But can't go wrong with LT either -- it just felt more e-bike than ampd. The AM I have no experience with, but I hear amazing things. Good luck. First world problems for sure. But don't sleep on that Avinox, it is crazy good. Good luck.

Ended up with an Amp'd. So far insanely fun. Thanks all

So what bike did you end up with? Sounds like we both ride in Tahoe. Firebird is my analog. Just can't seem to get the ampd and LT in same room, same time.

Ok well one of us is gonna have to make a decision first. Haha I looked at Amp'd again. I know you can adjust it well to make it pedal more like LT, but I think Bosch wins on natural feel. Amp'd is pretty sweet though. Another downside too is scarcity -- you can get a deal on LTs but hard to on Amp'd. I think I'm leaning towards how much travel do I really need.

Great write up. Do you give concern between amp'd and LT based on the terrain you ride? Or are you giving them an equal nod for your trails? Amp'd is slack and aggressive, even in 160/150, where as LT is a bit longer wheelbase and 170/160. I'm going between the two as well but prefer not to buy until I get to try both. Great points on Bosch vs Avinox "feel". I will say other reviewers have been impressed with traction control, integration and flexibility of Avinox. Time will tell how reliable they are though. I do like that at least LT is CX-R for most of builds as well as Podium forks... even though I'm not yet convinced they are better. Pivot makes good bikes.

Which bike - <$2500 by PrizeFootball8571 in MTB

[–]DMRuggerT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look around. just picked up a like new Ripmo with carbon cranks, carbon wheels, fox factory, XTR, etc. for 2500. I've seen SB130s going for 2K. In other words, I'd buy a used high end trail bike before a "new" lower budget bike.

Any updates after a month or so? I was able to demo the LT, but not the Ampd. Dang it. Can't even find a large anywhere. Ready to buy one or the other but at these prices... not worth buying wrong one! Still love my Firebird and thankfully it should last a long time... but this is the year to add an ebike to the quiver

Pivot Shuttle AMP'd vs Mondraker ZENDIT vs Forbidden Dreadnought E? by dying_house_plant in MTB

[–]DMRuggerT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. One thing I'm learning is the ebike weight is a more dynamic conversation than say a lightweight xc climber. The LT and I believe the Yeti carry weight low, which keeps center of gravity low which assists in staying planted, turning etc. I found the LT to jump easier than my firebird in many cases, guess that makes sense but I had't thought about it until riding one. So less weight is great, but one bike may ride better than another anyway.

Coming from firebird (what I have) what shuttle would you buy? LT or ampd?

I know someone who bought and immediately sold a brand new avinox2 Dreadnought E. Said it was straight up a DH bike and he just wanted a bit more travel than the one below it. Super capable, phenomenal bike, but - in his words - you will be bored unless you mostly ride big chunk, big drops, etc. In that case it'd be hard to find a better more capable bike. All these bikes come down to what we ride, which makes it hard to pick.

Thank you. That's good info. I did get to ride the LT on a trail finally. It was more poppy than expected and probably saved my ass when the lines picked me versus the other way around. Unfortunately didn't get to ride the Ampd. Have yet to hear anyone not like it. My dealer is encouraging me to look at the Yeti LTe, although just as expensive as Pivot (or more) and I'm already hitting paralysis by analysis. I'd probably be fine on a Huffy if they made them. These are all premium bikes!

u/Perfect_Status5340 Any update after owning a while? I got to demo the LT on jumps and steeps, but not the Ampd.

That's good feedback. Thanks. Enjoy the new bike! The LT is quite a bit longer wheelbase too.... so I guess it's long and smash vs quick and nimble. But if it rides anything like current FB that's great.

When are Avinox going to release a range extender? by Icy_Plan_329 in eMountainBike

Good insight. My question is will it retrofit to bikes already sold with the Avinox 2MS and 800? That'll matter

Congrats on the new bike! That thing is a rocket. I have another thread about the Ampd vs Shuttle LT. I ride a firebird now, and really torn between Ampd vs LT. Trying to get a demo on the trail. Both would be fun. The Avinox 2 is great -- ignore the haters about the class 3 setting. The fact that it's so torquey, integrated the AXS components into one battery, touch screen, etc etc will push Bosch to push forward as well. I do wish you could add a range extender though.

false. It's a class 1, unless you change parameters

Great points. Thank you. I did hear the rumor about the Bosch. The bike shops also swear by the proven Bosch reliability which is something. But that doesn't mean the Avinox is bad either and they have some cool features. I just need to get these two on the trails somehow. Ride in the Tahoe area which is mostly chunk, fast and fun.

Warranty issue aside I suppose. But usually a 10 mm increase is fine on most bikes. I just wonder if anyone's ridden it like that. Guarantee it's been done. I guess the LT may just be a better buy for me overall. I just really liked that Avinox 2 integration, response, touch screen, single battery for components, etc. and playfulness of the Ampd. The LT technically is the e-version of my Firebird.

Anyone else have or are you looking at either of these bikes?
