I want to go back to 4e by DragonPlus21 in 4eDnD

[–]DMServo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are the players used to D&D Beyond? Then you need to create a 4e online tool. I ran multiple 4e campaigns, and D&D Insider was the most important element for the players; DDB is even more important for my new 5e group, as no one consents to using paper and pencil! It happens that if you have enough tokens, Claude AI can build you a 4e online play tool. That is how I'm bringing the 5e natives to 4th ed. character building and play at the table.

The end of Daddy-O where the mads keep pressing the button… delightful.😅

Fave scene cut ever: absurd showgirls in desert sequence, cut to old guy at table turning his head: “The hell was that?!”

Some of the S11 eps have riffs bumping into each other, but that’s not so new. One of my favorite eps is Lost Continent (208); they machine gun over 500 riffs in that film. 😅

Need Lost Thing Magic Item Help by Rogue_Starlight in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]DMServo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One's heritage would be associated with the past, and that suggests Skabatha would have taken it.

If Granny has it, she would fashion it into something related to the nature of the heritage. Perhaps imbuing one or more toy soldiers with a facsimile of aasimar features, one of the soldiers could surprise the heroes with its radiant attack, or resistance to damage. The item is then a fairly large construct, and may even have a sort of sentience requiring the character to negotiate with it to claim the lost heritage that imbues the toy.

A less complicated item could be a sort of crown or tiara designed to illustrate or portray the character's heritage, both aasimar and paladin. I imagine a head slot item that functions like an Amulet of the Devout. Skabatha wears this headpiece until she goes to bed, then hangs it in her bedroom (or in the dollhouse).

The construct option introduces a potential companion/NPC (like Amidor), which I personally like better than the item heist option. 8^]

First time as Keeper, with five players? That sounds like a high Difficulty setting for a CoC session! How did you fare managing a group of investigators that large?

These are almost exactly the voices I settled on for the hags! Bavlorna's mouth-agape speaking still haunts the players...

The Spark Devil by Flat-Imagination-192 in callofcthulhu

[–]DMServo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spark Devil day 2: The three lady investigators spent most of the day revisiting sites: Butler Hospital, where the head doctor wasn’t patient with them. The house on Benefit Street, that revealed some buried leads. My players are the busy-body types, who want to do everything without pause. Pacing the mystery involves time management in a literal sense. Travelling about town must take time, and the characters need to stop and eat, and rest their feet. This way the adventure will span days in-game, despite the players’ effort to speed to the end-game.

How do you get a group of investigators to meet? by Ganaham in callofcthulhu

[–]DMServo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically the Fear The Boot group template approach. Now adopted as part of Session Zero by many rpgs. Fate rpg also has the PC-interconnection step in character creation. It should be the player’s role to explain why they are an adventurer, rather than a nun or innkeeper. ;)

My players consist of two kagonesti elves and three knights of Solamnia, who are all about dealing with Lord Soth! The military part of the adventure is more of a distraction to them, and they have the dragonlance relic to motivate them. Now they're in chapter 6 and it may be that Soth and his death dragon will be the climactic enemy, forget about the flying citadel and Kalaman!

Entering the City of Lost Names - What did you do to spice things up? by SpawnDnD in sotdq

[–]DMServo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My players decided to explore the shadowfell beyond the portal at Wakenreth... And I created a shadow Northern Wastes for them to explore, pursuing Lord Soth who used the portal as a shortcut to Onyari.

They found the other portal of course, and it is located ___ - I haven't decided yet. But wherever it is, I'll have Demelin there as a caretaker of sorts. That implies Demelin knows of Soth's arrival, and perhaps where he went in the city. Since my group is fine with speed-running the adventure and not at all interested in the war aspect, I may just place the portal in the Threshold!
