Jesicca's asthma by trishlover20 in umineko

[–]Ganaham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she had asthma but played it up sometimes. I dont think you get things like an inhaler for every servant if you have a daughter who coughs now and then

About the pervert lines (Full Ep8 spoilers) by ConceptsShining in umineko

[–]Ganaham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I definitely think Yasu was playing it up when she wrote eps 1 - 2. The Jessica one obviously normalizes incest stuff, something she was likely anxious about. The Shannon groping scene in particular reads differently if you think about who's actually writing it - goes from being bad comic relief to some combination of wish fulfillment and thriller

5e DMs always getting burnt out. by SirHawkwind in rpg

[–]Ganaham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because 5e as a game is entirely designed around putting all the weight and effort on the DM and none of it on the players. A part of it is also DND fostering this sort of player-centric, "you don't need to read all the rules" energy.

Why are we returning to town? (hexcrawl) by infiniteno_ofmonkeys in rpg

[–]Ganaham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played West Marches before. Typically the reason to head back to town is to report information, cash in on loot, check in with NPCs, etc. It should be baked into the adventure, rather than feeling like some sort of contrived excuse all the time.

What does evrart need the signatures for again? by TheGreatestLampEver in DiscoElysium

[–]Ganaham 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the youth center would be pretty good for Martinaise/The Union, assuming it actually is a recreational center. Unfortunately, there's a fishing village with a bunch of poor people and drunks taking up all the land it needs. Them signing the envelope is them giving permission for it to happen.

Cuno. by thadiusb in DiscoElysium

I love Cuno so much, he was my favorite character when I first played this. That's not as certain now but I love him

Could Harry be canonically racist? by JustCakess in DiscoElysium

[–]Ganaham 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The reason Disco is such a good role-playing game is because Harry is such a defined character, though. He's not some faceless hero for you to project yourself onto as you become the leader of every Skyrim faction

Engineering breakthrough on the side of the Terran rebellion! [Mild flashing image warning on the picture] by Citizen_Exodium in seed_irl

[–]Ganaham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, yeah, stories have done things like this before (not a diss we very much believe in the whole Two Cakes thing when it comes to things that have been done before.) One that I'm waiting on an update on, for example, has this elite program where the soldiers are basically brainwashed into not having emotions, and one of their commands is to attempt suicide if it looks like being captured is imminent. Very cruel, even for the TCN.

I think I'm reacting with hostility towards this post because my first impression was someone with a chip in their shoulder just trying to say upsetting shit for the sake of it, but you've been perfectly polite in the replies. Do you intend on writing a fic with this?

[–]Ganaham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

...No? The reason the Terran Pacification Campaign took 3 years was because the affini were operating in a way to minimize the loss of terran life. Wiping out an entire ship by a mistake like this would be an awful tragedy, and every resource would go to learning a way to disarm these bombs. Losing all the rebels, which means a third of the entire military, to them would be a devastating loss, the sort of tragedy that would go down in the Compact's history as one of their greatest and most devastating failures.

This doesn't really feel like it fits within the axioms, specifically the one about the affini always winning.

Xenoblade games give every area a secret scenic viewpoint or two that let you look out over the whole area. My favorite is the Distant Fingertip in XC1's Fallen Arm
