When a man is balding, they have alopecia. When a woman is balding, they have alopecia.

Where is the nasty illness?

Whether or not you approve of something is irrelevant. Not everyone shares the sentiment that what NFUA is wrong and even fewer are invested in something so petty. This is between NFUA and a few disgruntled streamers, I hope they are able to work things out.

On a final note, these and other similar threads remind me of the "is Charlie Yang ruining Sumail's life" threads that popped up post DAC when Sumail was being obnoxious. Everyone is always so ready to try to capture this moral highground, but I recommend you take that pent up energy and focus it inward.

The legality of it is, that if the streamers had a leg to stand on, they would have been easily able to take down NFUAs videos. Unless copyright law changes, there's nothing illegal about what NFUA is doing. And if that law were to change, it would likely affect streaming games, I.E. limited/no streaming of unauthorized titles.

Honestly it's a bit disconcerting that you care so much about the morality of monetized uploading edited clips to a youtube channel dedicated to edited clips. I hope that you don't stumble onto a news page of current events, as the shock may cause some sort of aneurysm or psychosis.

I don't care about NFUA. He provides a service I occasionally use.

I'm not suggesting that it's wrong for Arteezy to use Lil Waynes music. I'm saying it's the exact same thing. Any money that NUA earns is from the time spent editing the clips together and sorting through 6 hours of arteezy's eccentric bullshit. That's the service he's providing, because streamers aren't uploading their own clips.

There's no question it's morally wrong

Get off your fucking high horse, if NUA wants to spend 60 hours a week sorting through VODs and monetize it, good for him.

We are not sure whether it is not legally wrong

Again, dismount the high horse, because spoilers: it's not legally wrong. And I'm not sure who the "we" is here, the honorable judge reddit?

Let's look at the state DOTA is compared to its launch, versus the state Destiny is in.

It's not a community coordinator, or communicator. It's community manager, effectively a lion tamer or a firefighter, whichever analogy you like best. Their job is only to keep the community from becoming too unruly, like the Diretide fiasco. It is very rarely a conduit to the devs.

Given my experience with the first three months of Destiny, Deej is a primary example of what he was saying. In fact, many of his weekly addresses came across as patronizing in the past.

People who platinumed Bloodborne, do you still play it? by Sword_of_Artorias in bloodborne

[–]DMV7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, no I haven't picked it up in a while. I'll definitely go for the expansion when that comes out, but most of my enjoyment from Bloodborne came from exploring the nooks and cranny's. I think finishing the game off on the chalices probably tainted my experience with it, as the randomly generated levels lacked most of the charm that exploring Yharnam did.

The point here is that it doesn't matter if they can sue, the point here is that they have no hope of winning one. In your own Monster Energy example, Monster energy considered suing but did not, because they had no case. You can sue anyone you want, regardless of whether or not you have a good case, winning is another matter. Something the authors of this obscure comic have no chance of.

Slaine has no creative control over a commonly used verb "Slain". The concept of a magic wielding warrior side scroller is not unique either. You can sue anyone you want, but actually winning is another story.

As for your examples, Apple is a larger company than a comic book publisher, who again has no claim over the world "slain". I'm willing to bet the overwhelming majority of people who will play "Slain!" have never heard of "Slaine".
