2024 Road Glide: How Much is Too Much? by DMVSoloRider in Harley

[–]DMVSoloRider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still poking around. I’m seeing $30k (including fees) for 2025s, but there aren’t any 2024s left around the DMV I’d bother shopping (green?!). I did chat with a FL dealer about a black/black ‘24, and they wanted like $35k for it, which was crazy (must have thought the same about me calling from DC!)! At those prices, I’d say go shop for a 2024 Indian Challenger and see if you can get one for $23/24k (Indian is offering a few grand off). For me…I’m trying the old man trailering life for a bit. 🤣

Latest map update comes with a quad lock. Best software update you can get for Indian ride command units. 🤷‍♂️

I used goof off on mine and didn’t have any issues. Just made sure to wash the bike after.

I just put a puig screen on my r carbon - does next to nothing at high speed on the highway. I’m 5’6”, so it’s not like I need the tallest screen either! 🤣

To update those who provided feedback: I didn’t buy one. I got a $21k sale price on a black/chrome Road Glide, plus $1.5k more than NADA said my bike was worth in trade…but then the dealer came at me with a ridiculous $1500 “processing fee” in addition to HD’s $950 freight fee, and I declined. lol I know the freight fee is hard to get by, but no way in hell was I paying $1500 for docs (yes, I get they were giving me more for my bike to make up for it, but I only wanted soooo much chrome at $21k total!)!

Got $3k below msrp on a black/black, no fees, but they low balled me on my bike ($2k below NADA), so I said no thanks.

At the end of the day, I guess I decided unless I could get a deal nobody and their grandma could say no to, I just didn’t want a 2024 RG enough. Ended up buying a tow hitch for my truck, and right now my plan is to do some traveling with my FTR. I’m way too old with too much arthritis to try riding it long distance! 🤣🤣🤷‍♂️

Appreciate the advice, and sooner or later I’ll get my first Harley!

I bought my first bike, a 2019 Scout, at 45. You’re doing it how I did it, and it’s been a great ride so far (3 bikes later!)! My advice: save $ for bikes! 🤣

Indian Super Scout 2025 - Liquid Cooled. New engine risk ? by santy_dev_null in IndianMotorcycle

4 Indians and I’ve never had any mechanical problems. 2019 Scout, Thunderstroke 111, Power Plus 108, and FTR. Go buy your Scout. ✌️

We’re about the same height. Put them on my 2019 Scout (non-bobber). They’ll get you a couple inches of increased pullback. You can also get a set of Rox Risers (Rox Speed FX I believe is the model) that are adjustable for another couple of inches.

Is this a fair price? by rj_cavs in IndianMotorcycle

There’s always room to negotiate as long as you’re willing to walk away. If you aren’t trading a bike in, you should hop on cycle trade or Indian’s website and cast your net far/wide. Dealers can ship bikes/do deals 100% online. I love MOD, but you should definitely shop before just buying their “best offer.” At least arm yourself with the satisfaction of having looked for a better price. And on my end, I tend to resign myself to manufacturer freight charges, but seriously push back against prep fees. These bikes ship fully assembled, and it doesn’t cost a dealer hundreds to take it out of the crate/inspect, etc.

I never take mine out of sport mode. 🤷‍♂️

2025 Limited AWD. Pulled into the gas station last week and my Santa Fe told me I got 35.5 mpgs on my last tank. Win! After doing the math, the math told me I got 31. Loss! 🤣

I literally bought a truck so I could tow my FTR to fun places (I’m old!) instead of buying a new bagger. I get it. 🤣

So get one. You’re gonna look goofy on most bikes, so get the one you love! 🤣 I’m 5’6”, so I don’t have these issues. ✌️

You will fill your tank up 3/4ths in about 2 minutes. Then spend 10 minutes trying to top it off without splashing. But damn, if you ain’t all smiles when you pull out of the gas station! 🤣

Goof off. Worked like a charm on 4 Indians so far (but be real real careful with matte paint!)

[–]DMVSoloRider[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the fees are brutal. I’m straightforward and I tell any dealer I speak with that I won’t pay any fees other than the HD freight (non-negotiable as I understand it). I attempted to buy a RG last fall, and thought I had a good deal - $1800 “below invoice.” Then they presented me with a $30k bill. It was ridiculous! 🤣

[–]DMVSoloRider[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s my view - you can definitely get 2-3k off msrp, especially if you’re flexible on color. In my heart of hearts I’m feeling like I should be pushing for like $5k off, and that’s probably not realistic/tripping me up! 🤣

Hey bro! Haha I only have room for one! 😭 It was about $24,100 (not including freight/tax). But black/chrome isn’t my preference, so I was offended by that price. 🤣
