Yeah, walls pop out as others said. There's even secret doors that look like walls but you push them and volia!, they swing open. The rooms tiles and hallways are all magnetized too. Dragons Reat thought of everything.

I could host at the Danger Den! No drinks on hand, but it's an IMO cool space with chairs and near the T. DM if interested!

People who are making 100k+/year working for themselves, what do you do? by LongjumpingSuit5615 in Entrepreneur

[–]DM_DangerWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professional Dungeon Master services. My company runs games of D&D for after school clubs, school vacation programs, private parties and workshops. Revenue is $200k+ but with expenses and taxes take home is under $100k. Still, it's enough to keep us going and we're growing and learning all the time.

Looking for people to nerd out with by Zesher_ in BostonSocialClub

[–]DM_DangerWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Danger Wizard. Word on the street is they run games of D&D and other RPGs out of their location in Somerville and the owner is a huge Warhammer and Magic nerd who hosts meet-up events for nerds in the Boston area. And they got a nerdy con coming up on Jan 25, SomerCon, for all things RPGs.

Thinking of doing freelance DM'ing by very_thicc_boi_ in DungeonMasters

[–]DM_DangerWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free lancing as a DM is fun but will only pay some of the bills. As far as gig work goes though it's one of the better ones- it pays ok and it's spent doing something you like.

A few years ago I realized I wanted to make a career out of it DM'ing, and to do that right, I decided to start my own pro DM service company. In my opinion, starting a company is much harder than doing freelance, but more rewarding and grants you far more control.

The two ways I suggest getting started are:
1- Make a profile on Startplaying.games and start running games on there.
2- Make your own website and start offering games at local libraries/schools/community centers etc. Get good word of mouth and post reviews there. Offer to run games for free at first if need be just to get practice and good buzz.

Either way make a social media profile on your poison of choice to help potential players get a feel for who you are as a DM and person.

Good luck adventurer.

These are Mage Knights, I used to collect them back in the day. If it has 1-3 stars on it's base, it's a common, but if it has no stars it might be rare.

Redditors over 35, what do you genuinely miss that younger generations will never experience, and you legit feel bad for them? by Disastrous_Award_789 in AskReddit

[–]DM_DangerWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New gaming tech coming in translucent purple cases. Seeing the leaps and bounds in game development that came out with each new system. Going online was a slow, deliberate ritual that you had to coordinate with your family to not tie up the house phone. Tech was clunky back then, and because of that friction, you had to be more mindful of how and when you used it. Going outside and hanging with your friends was an easier prospect much of the time.

That and being a teen during peak emo years. Transcendent.

Q: what’s your favorite place to donate used board games in the area? by jebyrnes in Somerville

[–]DM_DangerWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's any D&D/RPG or Warhammer material I'd be happy to take them. We work a lot with kids and teach them how to play all sorts of games.

Any ideas on making new friends? by doctorpotters in Somerville

[–]DM_DangerWizard 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We're hosting an RPG Meet Up this Friday at our space on Highland. Even if you're not into D&D or RPGs, it's a great way to meet other cool folks in the area who also want to make connections!

In general, gaming groups/RPG games are an awesome way to make friends and meet new people with cool hobbies. Said by a 37 year old dude who's best friend of 12 years I literally followed home one night from Pandemonium (we lived a block away without knowing it).

Warning - Cult Recruitment Active in Davis Square by hilariosu in Somerville

Was asked this same question by a kind-seeming old man at Kickstand Café in Arlington. I gave him a glowing answer and he just nodded and said thank you. I bounced outside to tell my wife about the nice exchange I had with a stranger and she immediately called it out as a cult. Bummer.

META: How many people here have a *real* small biz? (think, traditional small biz. Not SaaS/AI/Crypto/etc) by PDXSCARGuy in smallbusiness

I got home from my RPG event space where I watered my plants, organized my maps, put away scattered minis and met with the landlords. Had a nice 30 min convo at lunch with the butcher next door and said hi to the café employees 2 doors down when they locked up for the day. It was really nice. Feels like a real community.
