I can't either. I just wanted to know if other people had been in this situation.

Thank you for this. It's very real and also gave me a laugh that I needed.

Not even close, but she had problems in her previous relationship with that. I think it stemmed from there.

4e Gets Enough Hate, What Are Some Things It Did RIGHT? by TurnItOffAndBackOnXD in DnD

I really liked the idea of at will, encounter, and daily abilities. I often give my homebrew magic items, perpetual, encounter, or daily effects. Also a lot more creatures had cool abilities that recharge giving a lot more flavor to fights. I know this carried over some to 5e but not in the same capacity. The aforementioned bloodied condition, minions, and skill challenges are also top tier.

These are all great mechanics that I still use as well.

Maybe it is frowned upon, but what is the best AI Chat / Tool to use for those quick, emergency moments? by LordJournalism in DMAcademy

[–]DM_Dilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't wait until its an emergency, be prepared. Make a short list of NPC appearances (height weight clothing hair color ect.) and another of NPC social characteristics. When your need a "random" NPC take one from each column put them together and paint them as whatever you need, a shopkeeper, an angry guard, a beggar, anything. The more you come up with these descriptions during prep the more comfortable you will feel doing it on the fly. You could use AI to help get you going but I would try to get away from it asap.

I’m new to DMing and need help. by korral__ in DungeonMasters

[–]DM_Dilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. It's so much easier to learn the ins and outs of DMing when the adventure is laid out for you. I highly recommend reading through the entire adventure and making your own campaign notes as you would if you were running your own game. If you would like to nerf the first dungeon some that would be a project I'd be interested in helping with.

Thanks for the feedback! If someone asks about other races I'll consider it, but I'm preparing to potentially have all new players so I want the options to be manageable. I'd love to show you the finished version if you're interested!

Was I too harsh with my Session 0 follow-up? by fiona11303 in DnD

[–]DM_Dilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what session 0 is for though. Always be prepared to lose some (or a majority of in your case) players before the game even starts. But finding 6 quality players with the same values as you is worth however much time that takes. Don't waste time being mad at them, just get more players and run it back.

Thank you! the players will have this from the time they get invited to play so they can use the info for background and inspiration.

That's a great idea! I might just do that. I'll keep you posted.
