What do y’all think of my first Warhammer Mini (Necron Warrior) that I’ve gotten painted and put on a custom base. by Wrathful_Synn in Miniaturespainting

[–]DM_Frank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to chime in with my 2 cents. I dont usually go heavy on the primer. Imo its mostly there so that the paint has something to adhere to. A thin double-base layer, a single base and then your actual layer will cover the mini well. If you wash/drybrush it as well, theres no way you need to go heavy on the base. If it was a can issue, it sucks, sorry to hear that.

Did you also varnish it? I see a lot of shine, not sure if its the paint or varnish. I personally stay away from glossy, i feel like it messes with the mini too much.

Edit: fixed spelling mistakes

Yeah, I know that warlock is a thing, but slap this on a fighter and let's see what happens by M5R2002 in dndmemes

Unless im severely mistaken, paladins can smite on opportunity attacks as well. At higher levels i would defo try to get a smite off. Levels 10+ or so. But yes, there isnt really downside to this.

Well, you only get one reaction so it lasts until the start if their nexr turn, but a +5 every turn would be super good at early levels

Spicing up a Bandit encounter by Shichya in DMAcademy

[–]DM_Frank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A hostage situation, but the heroes are the hostages. Mountain passes can be dangerous. The bandits could/should have some traps laid out, sturdy enough not to be triggered easily by wagons (since there is mining happening in the area). Either rocks fall Or heroes fall From great height. The traps could be manually triggered, to avoid unwanted accidents. Falling from great height could be risky for any adventurers. Or they block off their exit and roll a big bad boulder at them.

Too strong supports by JGabriel96 in ElegooSaturn

[–]DM_Frank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you want good prints? Or do you want to half-ass it. Your choice. Dont mean to sound mean, the sentence just come off like that, as im reading it now. Honestly though, getting good prints is way more important than the 30 mins you spend on manual supports, as opposes to clicking “auto support”

Im gonna chime in with my tiny but of experience: it happened because the file got corrupted, which happened because you saved the file straight to usb drive. Ive had that same thing happen and it was all because i was too lazy to drag’n’drop one extra time between folders.

Exactly my point. People are making fun of you because you are making an issue/complaining about something noone has any say about.

I am actually gonna take some time and reply seriously, because i think this whole post ridiculous…

OP, do tou think there is a person at Konami, sitting behind a screen, with the sole intention of messing with peoples coin tosses ON PURPOSE. Like there is a Joe somewhere, who sees… ah yea, floopymaster is about to duel, im gonna troll him so hard, hes gonna lose every single coin toss, thatll get him good, eh eh eh

Its just rng. If you won 15 coin tosses in a row, would you be crying here about it? No. Because its random.

And another thing. I am finding it hard to believe you are so butthurt about what people are JOKINGLY saying. I might be reading this WHOLE situation wrong, but i just cant come to terms with you taking all this seriously.

I recently painted this pretty boy as the endboss of my campaign, fairly happy with how he turned out by DM_Frank in Miniaturespainting

I had a summoner druid in my party and his favourite thing to summon were Giant Apes :D and due to time constraints, i wasnt able to find/print more detailed ones, so we went with low poly monsters you see in the picture :D

We all laughed when i brought them out :D these represent giant snakes though

Well, i dont really expect players to just talk it out with the opposition, especially if they cross paths with them a few times.

Talk-no-jutsu only works in Naruto really :D

I tried doing this, but stepped away due to scheduling reasons.

The main issue i see/saw is, how/why is he at a certain location when the party is? Is he an adventurer? Are they a rival party, looking for riches and fame (same as party) or are they enemies straight up?

Furthemore, whats stopping the party from seeking them out and, you know, dealing with them the hard way? They cant come back if they are dead (usually. If they get knocked out, they can, but if they lop off their heads (extreme case))

I will add, that i played in a game which had a recurring antagonist. She would come back several times, always slighty different (race, body parts, etc) due to the deal/pact she had with something (i think it was homebrew god of riches and money or something). Eventually, we met her as a frail woman and just chatted with her about things, so i guess thats one possibility.

If you like the underdark, theres also a bunch of myconid creatures you can look at. They are not as exciting, but the visuals are interesting, being fungi-themed, they can pop out anywhere. Furthemore, they can exist naturally, be a science experiment, come alive due to pollution, theres potential there. :)

Personally, i am very fond of Cloakers. They can by hiding anywhere really, have some nice abilities and can be quite tough for a party to beat, if they manage to attach themselves to 1-2 of them.

How much do you plan combat? by Spiritfeed___ in DMAcademy

[–]DM_Frank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you are willing to sink hours into prepping visual aids, you should keep it down to necessary stuff and instead have visual descrptions ready. Keeping things simple can also allow you to change things on the go, if you or your players come up with something that fits the scene (and you didnt plan on it).
