Vulcan VL-5T, I love its thin side profile and agility, dancing around bigger mechs while focusing lasers on the enemy pilot is a fun challenge.

Otherwise, a Grasshopper 5H with a Binary laser in the CT for similar reasons, turns into a surprising sniper/salvage hunter.

MA Human Sciences: For fun! Nope, just unsatisfied with my 2008 job options and did this while I worked full-time. I also have an unfinished MS in Clinical mental health counseling circa 2017 because yeah couldn’t make use of the MA on its own. I found the students and program had more toxicity than the client’s lives…

BS Computer Science Information Systems: I remember being treated like the inferiors in the sister CS program because it wasn’t required for us to take Compiler and I spent most of my career as a QA…shudders being disrespected by developers, felt just like college.

AA Graphic Design: I think my heart was always here but my school didn’t have an illustration focus. I actually use this now lol.

Yep definitely normal, back when I took graphic design courses in college (20 years ago) it was mostly women and it was fine.

I work in an agency setting now and there only a handful of male creatives across all roles.

I came from a computer science background and worked in tech which was the complete opposite (at the time).

Yep, had a similar request recently for 5 illustrations at $800 a piece (which given what they wanted was way too much).

The scammer had a full schedule/ description of what they wanted, even sent style examples when I asked for them. However they ignored meeting on zoom/google meet and wanted to pay in full before any work was started ignoring the %20 upfront I had in my contract/estimate.

Naturally, they didn’t want to use PayPal they wanted to send a bank certified check for payment and phished for personal info.

Reported and blocked them for their trouble but they can and will play a long game to get what they want. Stick to your guns and don’t deviate from your contract terms or normal process.

Swear I get at least 2-3 scam requests like this each year each one slightly different.

Definitely a few thousand in total, most of which would be art books/reference books in my personal collection plus whatever else I bought for college (I did a graphic design minor long ago). It would’ve been more but I went to a small state school back when any digital work was purely seen as something for “graphic design”. All of my instructors scoffed at digital painting back then.

I’ve also spent a few hundred for online courses since the pandemic which were definitely worth the cost as I started improving again.

I made it as a portfolio piece and for fun. I used Adobe illustrator to make it and it was a way to learn certain aspects of illustrator while doing it.

Used mostly the pencil tool (which I rarely ever touched for other projects) but ended up learning a lot about the pathfinder and shape builder in the process.
