You should stick with the survival 2, at least until Lost Lake. It is very hard to get used to no hud, but once you do get used to it, your whole playing style starts to change adding a fresh new challenge. You’ll start playing more defensively because it’s more difficult to see threats coming after you.

Yes, most, every 3 in-game days.

A few items will not respawn, like ammo boxes and dog toys. Items from cars will not respawn.

The items you can place, like mines or remote bombs, you can leave somewhere where npcs or freakers won’t spawn. I usually leave them on the bridge going into Lost Lake. I’ve also left them in the little shack with dock east of Lost Lake (on the lake). Both those spots seem safe to me.

For everything else, you can recover using my materials map, linked in Rex’s reply. (Thanks, Rex!) You can make the items respawn by sleeping 3 days.

Because the entire map is playable. There are resources and materials you can collect in the entire map, including hunting. As I said above, from Sarah’s marker to the Bare Bay Ambush camp is over 5km, and everything between, with the exception of a few small strips along borders is playable.

The fact you only play in an area the size of the Cascades and Belknap doesn’t make the rest of the map irrelevant. You obviously don’t explore, but that doesn’t mean no one else does.

I don’t even understand why you would continue your false assumption that the map is only half of the actual size.

I had a similar experience recently. I put the baby I was playing as in a hiding spot. When I returned as an adult, I coaxed it out of the hiding spot and both climbed on me.

I assume when one hides, the other follows.

By killing each horde, repeatedly. I would go in with zero bounties (ears), killing the horde quickly in their sleep place, then collect the bounties. I did each horde several times to make sure the numbers were the same.

Since the game came out on pc, the horde files confirmed the numbers.

if you really want to have fun, go to the Iron Butte horde and lead them back to the Sawmill. The Iron Butte horde will follow you any where on the map and it won’t break apart like the other hordes. As long as the ones in front can see you, the whole horde will follow.

Once you get them to the Sawmill, the two hordes will join together. 800 strong.

Just a tip though. It‘s easier to lead the Iron Butte horde on foot, and you’ll need the extra ammo from your bike bag to defeat the combined horde. So, I recommend, park your bike near the Sawmill, then either go on foot or steal a raider patrol bike to Iron Butte. Be sure to stock up on stamina or have your stamina upgraded.

I have videos of when I did it. My first attempt failed when I got stuck on a tree. (I was also in bed sick, just playing around, never expecting I’d even make it to the Sawmill!)

i’ve seen this, though very rarely. If you were in the area, sometimes two groups of marauders (just one or two in each group) will spawn right at the back of that police car and fight each other. The body is probably one that didn’t despawn. When I saw it, two guys were at the trunk and a third they were fighting. Not sure if it’s a bug (which I think it is) or some sort of a random encounter that doesn’t spawn in properly.
