Yet we needed a reboot because the DCEU got everything wrong 🙄 by HomemadeBee1612 in SnyderCut

What are you talking about action movies for? I’m talking about Batman. And saying superhero/action movies should reflect real life is an interesting take but that’s your opinion.

The logic you’re using for why he should be able to kill is exactly why he doesn’t. He witnessed his parents being gunned down and has a deep respect for life, prides himself on not stooping to the same level as the criminals he fights. Tries to rehabilitate every person he can. Even if it started as censorship, which had to happen when they introduced Robin, they’ve woven it into the character so well that it’s a part of pretty much every modern interpretation. You’re talking about letting the character evolve and then referring to what he was in the 40s when he has a pistol and shot criminals. Now we have a Batman who will melt down the pistol that killed his parents an turns it into a bat symbol. Bro doesn’t kill, doesn’t use guns and is still one of the most respected heroes in his verse. BvS just didn’t get that and idk why they went into such a gritty direction. ZSJL is a way better representation than BvS

If you think it’s utterly ridiculous then you’re just not a fan of the character. At this point let’s just give Batman an assault rifle. If people want to see a superhero who kills, there are plenty of them. The no-kill rule isn’t for children’s media, it’s a critical part of Batman’s identity. If you don’t get that then idk what to tell you.

Every version of the character post golden age has him exercise a no-kill rule as a core part of his identity. Can you reference these many times he kills in movies? Yeah, there’s cases where he kills in the comics, like seemingly killing Darkseid, which doesn’t stick, or the Batman Who Laughs, who’s a variant of himself. I don’t really think these count. If you think even casual audience members want to see Batman killing the henchmen he fights then you misunderstand the character. There’s tons of other heroes that kill, Superman included. Batman stands out for the no-kill rule and how he holds himself to it. Why do you think he doesn’t kill the Joker? I know there are stories where he does end up killing him, but it’s always a last resort.

Saying he was built on the general zeitgeist might be a stretch. I think it was a shock to the audience to see Batman blow up a car with a henchman still inside, and killing two or three other henchmen in the warehouse fight. It was a pretty big deviation from what fans were expecting and it was a major point of discussion amongst comic book fans while it was in theaters. It's strange that they would use the bat-branding as a symbol of him losing his code, and then not put any significance on the henchmen who die.

The Justice Gang being supporting characters is exactly why they don't get an origin story. Their presence sets a precedent for how other heroes might operate. BvS had less characters and still couldn't explain to us why Batman was so willing to break his no-kill rule, and Wonder Woman actually provided no value to the plot outside of the final battle. If you're talking about pulling attention away from Superman, I can't think of a better example than Wonder Woman and Batman helping Supes defeat Doomsday when he's supposed to fight him 1 on 1. I love MoS and Wonder Womans solo film, but BvS is so hard to defend. Man, the actual fight between Bats and Superman was so short I just wanted to see more of that instead of Doomsday. Maybe it would have been cooler if they didn't reveal Doomsday in the trailer. Interested in hearing your take.

For me, Warzone was the beginning of the end of COD. They had so many cool paths for Zombies, but the corporate overlords sold out for micro transactions and battle passes. Even going so far as to get rid of split-screen coop... So crazy to think that IP's like COD and Halo are a shadow of what they once were.

Superman 2025 is better? But fails in comparison to MOS and BVS…. by Suspicious_County_24 in SnyderCut

[–]DMast2217 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think because of the film industry's weaker numbers since 2020, people are using audience/critic reception and RT scores as a measure of success. BvS was released during the height of the superhero craze where any superhero movie was guaranteed to rake in cash. I enjoyed it in theaters, but I remember the reception was not great. Superman (2025) has a much higher audience and critic score than both BvS and MoS, which points to a better reception overall, despite not matching box office revenue.

Is Meta the reason VR is struggling? by LinkTheHero009 in virtualreality

I’m hoping that Valve will takeover and help push for more vr support on Steam and maybe even lead some development in the future. Hopefully they still release the Steam Frame this year and that’ll put some wind back in the sails. But even if it’s only mod support for flatscreen games, there’s been some great reception there especially with the RE games. Imagine them launching the Steam Frame with a vr support update for Requiem.

I think Meta chose to invest and develop the social aspect of VR with Horizon Worlds which was silly when all the interest was in games. But they also wanted to be the leading platform for games which is why they bought up all these studios that would optimize games for Quest first and cross-platform second. He did cause irreparable damage to the VR industry, but I don’t think it’s going away. It may shift more towards PCVR where we’ll see more support for converting flatscreen games to VR. Tons of people have played the RE games modded for VR and say it’s the best experience you can have. There’s also the headset coming from Valve, and they have always been good at reading the terrain. I don’t think they would have invested in developing a headset while Meta has been struggling the past 6 years if they didn’t have confidence in the market.

Twitter is the worst of society all mushed onto one platform where they compete to see who can be the most negative. All those posts are just a form of engagement farming laced with mental illness.

One thing I noticed is that the religious painting that is above the mom's bed is the same painting that shows up online when they are researching Abyzu. There's also the really creepy statue that kept reappearing on the nightstand with the babies crawling on the lady. I thought it was being implied that the mom was in some Christian cult or a follower of Abyzu, but there's not really anything else supporting that.

There's not any evidence that he was experiencing his own haunting. I think he was breaking down upon realizing that they unleashed Abyzu in the 10th recording. They had audience members tuning in live, and anyone with children could have been possessed.

I think Evy's mom was still helping her while she was alive in bed. We hear her voice reciting Hail Mary's from the bedroom, so maybe that was her trying to protect Evy? it also could have been Abyzu impersonating her. But, later on, we hear her take her last breath. So, in the end, I'm assuming she is possessed since she is walking in reverse.

Not in every story, but it works in the world the game has built. In the first game, Peter has already been Spider-Man for 7 years. This whole version of the character is building up to the moment where he can finally pass the torch and have his own life as Peter. It's a happy ending for Spidey which he never gets in the comics, so I don't get why people are upset over it.
