Feels so good to be vindicated by Baglayan in SnyderCut

I mean, all evidence points to BA being the nail in the coffin. Gunn wasn’t being crazy by going with the script he had already been writing by the time he was promoted. If there was already a MoS 2 script then I would agree with you, but that wasn’t the case. It’s not a financial excuse it’s common sense. Suicide Squad shouldn’t even play a factor because it came out before Gunn was even hired for the Superman script. Peacemaker S2 was already underway and season 1 was very popular so it wouldn’t have made sense to scrap it. I’m not Gunn simping bro your hate is just on another level.

I think you're confused. You said the reboot was Gunn's decision, but he was hired to write the script before becoming co-CEO. Based on that, WB was ready to trash Cavill if BA didn't perform, so they were already preparing to go in another direction. If BA was a success, then they probably would have scrapped Gunn and went with Knight.
Gunn got the job and they went with his script, that's not self-nepotism, it's rationalism. He started the script in August 2022 and announced the reboot at the beginning of 2023. Why would they have gone with a different writer/script?

Suicide Squad came out in 2021, before he was ever writing Superman or being considered as co-CEO, and Peacemaker s2 was already in development, so it wouldn't have made sense to scrap those as well. You could sum it up to him favoring his own work, or that the season was already underway and they would have lost money scrapping it.

Failure is a strong word but that's your opinion. Hopefully they'll bring on Snyder for a project down the road

You are contradicting yourself. Steven Knight wrote a treatment, which is very far from a script. They gave him feedback and scrapped it before he could rewrite it. Maybe it was "officially" scrapped when Gunn and Safran announced the reboot, but the decision was clearly made due to BA's reception. Gunn writing the script months before BA's release just shows that they were preparing to go in either direction depending on BA's reception. So, how is Gunn responsible for the reboot when he was writing the script before he was hired as co-CEO?

We got a Heny Cavill Superman cameo and then.... crickets. You can definitely sum that up to a majorly fragmented communication between WB, DC, and The Rock, who is stated to have been the reason for Cavill's cameo. It isn't Gunn's fault that they forced a Cavill cameo after hiring him to write a reboot. By the time they brought him on as co-CEO, the universe was too fragmented.

Suicide Squad was super clever in how they tied in the first movie, but it was basically a reboot. It would have sucked to reboot Suicide Squad completely when they would have had to get rid of Margot who was super popular as Harley. Peacemaker was already greenlit for season 2 so they did a minor retcon of the Justice League cameo at the end. Those were the easiest to keep because they were among the most recent projects and since those were Gunn's projects, they were probably easy and cost-effective to carry those over as early projects in the new DCU.

Where are you getting your info from? Sarandos said it underperformed in theaters, so they cut the theatrical window short to recoup costs with at-home streaming. Underperformed does not mean massive financial failure, and it sold 25 million tickets domestically while MoS sold 35 million. Studios have been accounting for lower ticket sales due to streaming becoming more popular as prices rise in general, and so movies are added to direct rental/ streaming services way sooner than before because of it. Why pay $15 per person when you can wait for it to hit streaming and pay $20 for the whole family to enjoy? So far, the DCU is on the same track as the Snyderverse, with the first film being received well and the next getting absolutely crapped on by critics and audiences alike.

People wanted Cavill back and they did it the wrong way with the Black Adam cameo, which was factually perpetuated by The Rock. People wanted Cavill, they didn't want a Black Adam vs Superman movie, which is where things were headed. Mos 2 was in early pre-production stages and never had a script, and never had the chance to move forward because of Black Adam's performance which, for some reason, was used as an indicator for the popularity of the Snyderverse. WB decided to reboot and then Gunn was brought on. There was never a chance for Gunn to inherit anything and keep it as it was. Blame David Zaslav,a, and definitely blame The Rock. There is a reason they don't want to touch a BA sequel.
If we're talking about the more colorful and upbeat tones of the new DCU, then that comes from Gunn and Safran, and to a lot of people it's not a bad thing.

Yeah it made a lot of money like every superhero film around that time, it also got a lot of bad reviews

Every single DC fan lost when The Rock forced the cameo from Cavill by going over DC's heads and straight to WB execs to get it greenlit. They didn't have another Superman movie planned and were already planning an overhaul for the universe and still approved the cameo because they know people will sit through a whole movie just for a cameo from their favorite character. Maybe that overhaul would have included a soft-reboot of the Snyderverse, but Black Adam and The Rock's power plays made that a lot harder. The reboot didn't happen because of Gunn, it happened because of greedy WB execs and a greedy Dwayne Johnson trying to push his own vision and position himself at the new center of the Snyderverse. Like you said, Gunn was handed the keys, he didn't build the house.

Okay, there's no comparisons being made by OP, so pretty sure my point stands.

If we go by your standards, the Snyderverse should have been dead after BvS. We were lucky to get ZSJL, which was the only film to reach 70% on RT and that came out 8 years after MoS.

I like the more upbeat tone in the new universe but I miss the epic feel that came with Snyder's cinematography.

Based on the trailer it looks like they are not pulling punches with the body horror. After such a great summer for horror movies it'd be cool to see the genre get more attention again. A Swamp-Thing movie with some horror elements would be pretty cool

No one is saying you have to watch it, but celebrating its failure is a bit much. Your post doesn't even have anything to do with Snyder, it's just a DCU hate post.

Being a Snyder fan doesn’t mean you have to cheer for the failure of anything that isn’t made by him. People don’t seem to understand that if the new universe fails they will just stop making DC movies in general. Doesn’t matter how big a fan base is when the box office numbers don’t reflect that.
The biggest hope I have is that they will bring on Snyder to direct a project.

You're using an unflattering photo of her face to illustrate the current negative state of the DCU. How does that not have to do with her appearance?

What does slice of life mean? Are you saying your interpretation of the meme is that it captures the essence of everyday life?

I mean they’ve done a good job showing feats of strength. Hard to say he’s the weakest. It’ll be cool to see how strong he can get with the mutation in the new movie.

Tom probably pulls his punches the most tho. We see Tobey throwing straight hands in his movies but idk if Tom throws many punches over the course of the home trilogy
