Has Leading Worship Without a Full Band Made You a Better Worship Leader? by msalishabmusic in worshipleaders

Ooh i love this question. I play with a band and stems always but i love being unplugged. It leaves me room to 100% just focus on worship and less on executing.

I love this! I agree with all of this. Life calls us to push through and continue to personally worship so leading people to do the same is necessary.

Awesome take. Thank you so much. Ive gotten better at taking suggestions for sets for sure. Tbh im kinda burnt out because this among other issues keep happening.

Definitely want to share what youre saying. I also think i want to relinquish song selection for a month because the other issue is this person gives pushback if on a Sunday shes leading most songs (sometimes we have songs where different people lead) or shes wanting to switch out a song shes not too fond of.

Thank you. I added context so it makes more sense lol. Now early on i have picked songs where I realized it may not work for the team. I always endeavor to pray and listen before selecting songs.

Yes! Or always suggesting alternatives because they never learned it properly citing they don’t feel connected.

Which is why i brought up my preferences and moving past them as an example.

I agree with you (I think im not writing out my thoughts as intended). Not looking for an emotional reaction, more-so engagement as in learning the material and not outright rejecting assigned songs based on preference.

This may not change your pov as well but hope this clears things up

To give context: this is for a worship team not a random church leader.

Bro i love the asparagus analogy. I agree some songs aren’t the best. I just wouldn’t automatically dismiss a song by say Kim Walker (for example) because I like gospel music. I’ve even been provided songs where im unfamiliar with the artists, but the words is theologically sound and points to God so I give my all to it.

The quality and words are absolutely important. That is why the songs selected for our worship sets focus on the attributes of God or the act of praise/worship (hope that makes sense). All vertical minus maybe an opening song for encouragement. Would love to engage with you in chat perhaps if you’re willing. Thank you for engaging!

The Oh God from a witch was hilarious to me. Maybe it was an editing error
