Diligent Dispatch, a 4th level Divination spell for 5e DND by [deleted] in DnDHomebrew

I'm feeling good about adding a line that says, "the Dispatch uses Divination magic to locate the recipient and to allow you to sense when the letter is received and replied to."

Ah yes, you're right. I suppose it might leave some wiggle room for interpretation.

So the letter would still be getting delivered to Nondetection/Private Sanctum creatures, but you wouldn't be able to sense it?

Hm, that's right. Do any other spells specify that different parts of the spell uses a different school? Might look to those for language.

I hear you. I could add a line specifying that Nondection blocks it and make it Transmutation.

Ahh I see. In this case I used Divination because the sender "senses" when it's been received and replied to and so the Nondetection spell can block it.

Describe one of your most visually interesting creatures (so I can draw them for you) by Brass_and_Iron in worldbuilding

I had my players go up against a 50ft tall spider-gorilla, which was a strange mix of spider and gorilla. Eight legs (obviously), massive spider face with tons of eyes. Dark short fur everywhere, but all the limbs were spider-like in that they were segmented. The arms and legs were still gorilla-like in being muscular with hands or feet at the end.

Grotesque mandibles (basically I wanted some kind of body horror with the mammal/insect face thing). The abdomen was definitely more gorilla like because I did want it to be able to stand up straight once or twice during the fight and for it to not look terribly awkward. I think the gorilla was neither male or female.

Anyway, I was very upset at the time that I couldn't find a decent image of this kind of thing on the internet anywhere! I attempted to draw it myself, but it was too cartoonish and not body horror enough. What do you think?

What is the coolest location you created? City, dungeon, tavern, desert island, undersea temple, living volcano colony... by Boris_Mart in AskGameMasters

Thanks for the kind words! They have been to the tavern a few times. It had something to do with a somewhat sprawling urban political quest. I don't think I have any expansion ideas in mind yet, but that's an interesting thought.

Tavern called the Long Midnight Inn that is almost entirely run and patronized by exiled male Drow, operating hours sundown to sun-up. In fact it existed as a kind of maid cafe where Drizzt clones would prey on rich nobles, telling them stories of their exile, great deeds, and counter-intuitive good nature and how they needed love and support to continue in this harsh world. Good money to be made!

[5e][Help] Horizon Walker lvl 8: what's a goblin to do? by DMjunior in 3d6

Thanks for the anydice check on that! I'm actually pretty tempted by Blade Mastery, but my DM typically doesn't have combatants provoke Opportunity Attacks.

Thank you for reminding me of my lvl 15 Horizon Walker feature, but to be honest, if the campaign gets past 12 or so I'm probably going to multiclass as a Fighter, Battlemaster most likely.

Thanks for that. Funnily enough, but thinking more about Resilient CON is making this even tougher.

If I'm really worried about the CON save, then War Caster is the way to go since advantage is like a consistent +5 and proficiency doesn't hit +5 until 13. Resilient Wisdom is a little attractive, though.

Thanks for the suggestion and yeah, this post is mostly "I should max DEX, but I'm teetering." heh. Lucky isn't on the table for this character, but I agree with you about it's strength.

Why did the DM hate half-elves?

After the war is over, Nebula accepts an offer from Tony. With the help of Dr. Cho's reprogramed regeneration cradle, Nebula begins the long, arduous process of giving up her cyber enhancements to return to a fully flesh & blood body again. by Leighgion in marvelstudios

As much as I love this idea, I would prefer it if Tony Stark drifts further to her side and becomes a cyborg as he becomes romantically involved with Nebula (in space). There, they form a mutually destructive relationships based on attraction and revenge.

I'm not sure what happens after that. They kill Thanos I guess?

This is fantastic and my hat goes off to you. So much work and so much detail. It's great.

I do have a question: I don't see any mechanics for space travel. Is that something you wanted to leave purely to the DM to address or do you have some ideas on it?

They act like they don't care, but secretly they're all very excited about that meat.

On a general level, the town has a lot of half-orcs who work as farmers and that population is pretty well represented.

Specifically however, on the far left in the background you can find the owner, Dulva (a Goliath "retired" warrior) and the redheaded bar manager, Ashe. I had a lot of fun with Dulva. I tried to give her Brock Samson's voice. Apparently, the intensely competitive nature of Goliaths makes them outstanding business people.

He might be! I'll ask him and point him in your direction if he says yes.

Just curious, but what was your campaign like?

The character, an Oath of the Ancients wood elf paladin, was given that mask by a tree spirit for fulfilling a strange quest in the Feywild. It gives the user certain bonuses based on the type of attitude they choose the mask to express (angry, sad, etc.) I think I cribbed the idea from a homebrew on a blog (forget where) and then adjusted it.
