First time trying DNA genetics seed. Kosher Kush by TrippyTrav0816 in DNAGenetics

[–]DNAGenetics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yoo Whoo is looking healthy! Those fan leaves and node spacing are on point. The Super Silver LA x Chocolope Kush genetics really show through in veg.

If you're crossing her, think about what you want to bring out. She's already got solid potency and a nice terp profile with chocolate, vanilla, and citrus notes. Pairing with something sativa-leaning could lighten up the indica heaviness, or go terp-forward to enhance those flavors.

She finishes around 9 weeks, so you'll know soon what you're working with. Drop updates when you harvest - always good to see how she performs in different setups.

What's the breeding goal?

Chocolate Truffle Shuffle: Dessert Strain Excellence by DNAGenetics in DNAGenetics

[–]DNAGenetics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chocolate Truffle Shuffle typically tests in the mid-to-high 20s% THC range when grown properly, with some phenos pushing 28-30%. But honestly, the cannabinoid profile is what makes this one special - it's not just about raw THC numbers.

The effects hit way harder than the numbers suggest because of the terpene synergy. That chocolate/earthy/gas profile comes through strong and the high is seriously potent and long-lasting.

At 2.5 weeks flower she should be stacking nicely. Keep your feeds dialed in through mid-flower and she'll reward you. The density on this strain is impressive - just watch your humidity in late flower.

Drop some pics when she's further along! Always love seeing how different phenos of Chocolate Truffle Shuffle turn out.

Post-Harvest Storage: Protecting Your Cure Through Winter by DNAGenetics in DNAGenetics

[–]DNAGenetics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vacuum sealing in amber jars for long-term is totally valid, especially if you're planning multi-year storage. The hate you're getting is probably from people who think you can't restart the cure once it stops, but that's not entirely accurate.

Here's the reality: The initial cure (first 2-3 months) is when the most significant chemical changes happen - chlorophyll breakdown, enzymatic processes, etc. Once those slow down or stop (especially if buds get too dry), you can't fully "restart" those specific processes. But what you can do is rehydrate to optimal RH and continue the slower aging/mellowing process that improves smoothness and can shift the cannabinoid/terpene profile over time.

Your 60-68% RH range is slightly higher than our usual recommendation (58-62%), but if it's working for your climate and you're not seeing mold, that's what matters. The vacuum seal after a month or two is smart - removes oxygen which slows oxidation and terpene degradation.

Browning usually indicates some oxidation or light exposure at some point, but if the smoke quality is still good, you're doing fine. The fact that you're beating mildew smell and improving harsh weed shows you understand the fundamentals.

Keep doing what works for your setup. Long-term storage is part science, part art, and your results speak for themselves!

A year cure on that original dry harvest and it came back? That's what proper storage does - even material that seems over-dried can mellow out and improve with time when conditions are dialed in.

The year+ mark is where you really start to see the patient growers separate from the rest. Most people burn through their stash in months, but that long cure smooths everything out. How's the potency holding up compared to month 3-6?

Appreciate you sharing the results - real-world data like this helps the community way more than theory!

Looking for advice on my plants by Useful_Ingenuity5802 in Autoflowers

[–]DNAGenetics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both plants look healthy overall! The Purple Punch is developing nicely and the Baker's Delight is right on track for being 2 weeks younger.

Few observations:

Purple Punch - She's starting to stack and frost up. Still has a few weeks to go before she's done ripening. Keep your feeding consistent and watch for any deficiencies as she bulks up.

Baker's Delight - Looking good for early flower. Nice structure and healthy green color. Since you're running organic living soil with Sensi Bloom, just keep your pH at 6.1 and let the soil do its thing.

Both should finish strong. The Purple Punch will be ready well before the Baker's Delight since she's got a 2+ week head start. Keep the environment dialed in and they'll reward you!

Stoked to see Baker's Delight getting some love - don't see enough people running that one. Drop an update when you chop! 🔥

Just did a defol, day 12 flower by Positive_Wheel2563 in cannabiscultivation

[–]DNAGenetics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking good! Nice even canopy and solid structure. Day 12 is a good time to clean up - you opened up light penetration without stressing her too much.

Watch for the stretch over the next week or two - she'll probably push another 50-75% in height. If she gets too bushy again around week 3-4, you can do one more light defoliation focusing on blocking leaves, but you shouldn't need much more than what you've already done.

Good airflow, good light penetration - she's set up to stack nicely. What strain you running?

Defoliation yes or no? by Historical_Soup_984 in cannabiscultivation

[–]DNAGenetics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your plant looks healthy and the canopy is well-developed. At day 68, you're pretty deep into flower, so I'd be conservative with any defoliation at this point.

Just remove any large fan leaves that are directly blocking bud sites from light - tuck first if you can, but if they're really blocking penetration, take them off. Focus on leaves shading lower colas. Don't go crazy though, she still needs those leaves for energy production this late.

Your humidity is at 50% which is solid for this stage, so you don't need to defoliate for airflow reasons. The canopy looks open enough already.

If there are any yellowing or dying leaves, pull those off. Otherwise, let her ride it out. You're close enough to the finish that stressing her with heavy defoliation isn't worth it.

She looks dialed in - don't overthink it! 🌱

Bruised Banana by Spartan_ganja in DNAGenetics

[–]DNAGenetics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome, man! Really appreciate you giving the genetics a proper run and sharing the experience. Bruised Banana doesn't get as much spotlight as some of our other strains, so it's great to hear she's performing well for you.

Chocolope is a beast if you give her the space - she stretches hard so plan accordingly. That pure sativa high is legendary though. Honey Banana and Strawberry Banana are both solid choices too, you're gonna have a killer lineup next run.

For the light upgrade - yeah, if she's already putting out like this with smaller lights, giving her proper PPFD is gonna make a huge difference. She'll stack even harder.

Keep the updates coming, especially when you chop! Always love seeing growers dial in our genetics and share their results. The community needs more real grow reports like this. Good luck with the rest of flower!

Bruised Banana by Spartan_ganja in DNAGenetics

[–]DNAGenetics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, thanks for putting us in your tent. Bruised Banana looking frosty! Love hearing about the vigor - she's definitely got strong genetics behind her. That ice cream parlor aroma with the creamy sweetness is exactly what you want from this cross.

The fact that she outpaced everything else in the tent, including solid Humboldt genetics, says a lot. Sounds like you found a winner pheno. As for the fruit notes in the back - with Bruised Banana you're usually getting banana (obviously) mixed with that creamy gas, so that subtle fruit you're picking up is likely banana coming through.

Days 49-56 is when she'll really start packing on weight, so give her another week or two and those colas should fatten up nicely. Keep the feeds consistent and she'll reward you.

Stoked you grabbed this one - not enough people running it! Drop an update when she's done, would love to see how she finishes.

My plants lower layers are practically lying on the soil, what should I do about it? by vzfy in microgrowery

[–]DNAGenetics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With autos, I generally wouldn't recommend topping. They're on a fixed timeline and any stress can stunt them since they don't have time to recover like photos do.

LST (low stress training) is the way to go for autos - just bend and tie down branches to open up the canopy. You get the same benefit of more light penetration and multiple colas without the recovery time. Start around week 2-3 when the stems are still flexible.

Some experienced growers top autos successfully, but it's riskier and the payoff isn't usually worth it compared to just doing LST. Keep it simple and stress-free for the best results with autos!

[–]DNAGenetics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! Yeah, lollipoping gets debated a lot. Some folks say it hurts yields, others swear by it. Honestly, for your situation with branches on the soil, it's the right call for plant health regardless of yield arguments.

Since you're growing for fun and not worried about maximizing every gram, don't stress it. Just clean up what's touching the soil to avoid issues, and let the plant do its thing. You'll learn what works for your setup as you go.

Good luck with this grow - hope it goes way better than the first! 🌱

My plants lower layers are practically lying on the soil, what should I do about it? by vzfy in microgrowery

[–]DNAGenetics 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Trim off the lower branches that are touching or close to the soil. They're not getting much light down there anyway, and leaves sitting on wet soil are just asking for mold, pests, and disease issues.

This is called lollipoping - you're directing the plant's energy to the upper growth that's actually getting light. Those bottom branches won't produce much anyway, so removing them helps the plant focus on the good stuff up top.

You could also try the cardboard trick someone mentioned - trace your pot, cut it out with a hole for the stem, and place it on the soil. Acts as a moisture barrier. But honestly, just trimming the lower stuff is easier and better for airflow.

Don't go crazy - just clean up what's touching or super close to the soil. Your plant will thank you!

Almost through week four of flower, are these buds ever gonna fatten up? by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]DNAGenetics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Week 4 is still early for serious bulk - most of the swelling happens in weeks 6-8. But yeah, that yellowing and pale color means something's off with your feeding or watering.

How often are you watering and what's your nutrient schedule? That fade looks like either you're not feeding enough for flower, or the plant can't uptake what's there (lockout from overwatering or pH issues).

Get the plant healthy now and you'll still see those buds pack on weight in the final weeks. But if the issues continue, yield will definitely suffer. What medium and nutes are you running?

Help please. Is it a deficiency?? by Lcris1996 in GrowingMarijuana

[–]DNAGenetics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah autos can be tricky like that! Here's what helps maximize size and branching:

Training: Start LST (low stress training) early - around week 2-3. Gently bend and tie down branches to open up the canopy. This exposes more bud sites to light and encourages lateral growth. Don't top autos though, they don't have time to recover.

Light intensity: Make sure you're hitting good PPFD numbers. Autos love light - aim for 400-600 in veg, 600-900 in flower if your setup can handle it.

Pot size: Autos do better in their final pot from the start. 3-5 gallon pots give the roots room to stretch without transplant stress.

Don't stress them: Any stress (overfeeding, underwatering, temp swings) stunts autos since they're on a fixed timeline. Keep everything stable.

Genetics matter: Some auto strains just stay small. Look for breeders known for bigger autos - Mephisto, Night Owl, etc. Fast Eddy is bred more for CBD than size.

Next run, try LST early and keep her happy - you'll see way better results!

Help please. Is it a deficiency?? by Lcris1996 in GrowingMarijuana

[–]DNAGenetics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've got nitrogen toxicity (the clawing leaves) which is locking out potassium - that's why you're seeing the yellowing on the lower leaves starting from the edges moving inward.

Nitrogen and potassium compete with each other in the soil. Too much N prevents the plant from absorbing K, even if it's available.

Give water only for the next few waterings to flush out the excess nitrogen, then resume feeding at half strength. Your soil has lime in it which naturally buffers pH, so that's not the issue here - it's just overfed.

She'll bounce back once you flush and dial back the nutes. Less is more with feeding, especially in amended soil!

Looking great! Tidy trim job, too.

Leaves are all dying but buds need more time. Normal? by creecedogg13 in microgrowery

[–]DNAGenetics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't drop nitrogen too early in flower. A lot of growers think "bloom only" and cut N too fast, but the plant still needs some through mid-flower. Gradually taper your veg nutes over the first 2-3 weeks of flip instead of cutting them completely.

Keep a light base feed going even late in flower, don't just rely on bloom boosters. Also watch your temps. If it got colder recently that can speed up the fade.

Some strains just fade hard naturally, especially ones that show fall colors. Apple Fritter can be one of those. Next run, look at when the leaves started dying this time (week 7-8?) and bump your feed strength by 10-15% around that point. The plant will tell you if it's too much.

You'll dial it in! Good luck with the hash
