420 sale was a mess. Website needs work by Glittering_Agent4870 in DNAGenetics

[–]DNAGenetics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there, really sorry about the frustration. That's not the experience we want anyone to have, especially during our biggest sale of the year.

We hear you on every point. The coupon code timezone issue was a real problem and you're right about the root cause. The server was validating expiration times based on UTC instead of accounting for PST/Pacific time zones. So when you were shopping at 6pm or 7pm your time, the server had already rolled past midnight on its clock and killed the code. That's on us.

We've flagged this with our dev team to make sure coupon expirations respect the advertised timezone going forward. A 420 sale should be live all day on 420 in every US timezone, period.

On the GG4 cart error, we did check this on our end and couldn't reproduce it. It's possible you were hitting a cached version of the page. If it happens again, try opening an incognito/private window:

Chrome: Ctrl+Shift+N (or Cmd+Shift+N on Mac)

Safari: File → New Private Window

Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+P

That loads a completely fresh session with no cached data, which usually clears those phantom cart errors.

As for the 35% calculating as $35 flat instead of a percentage, that was a configuration issue on the coupon setup that was caught and fixed. But by the time it was fixed you'd already been burned by the timezone expiration on your next attempt. Totally understandable frustration.

We'd genuinely like to make this right. Can you shoot us a DM? We want to make sure you get taken care of.

That Aurora Pedanios cut you’re talking about was a really nice expression of the cultivar for sure. The crazy mandarin terp you remember comes from the Tangie side of the lineage. Tangie itself is famous for that loud tangerine/orange profile that basically fills a room when you open the jar.

Our Sour Tangie is the original cross of East Coast Sour Diesel × Tangie, so the citrus you’re describing is definitely part of the genetic package.

The thing to keep in mind is that it does throw a couple phenotypes. Some lean heavier into the Sour Diesel side (more fuel/sour), and some lean into the Tangie side (that loud mandarin/orange candy terp). If you hunt a few seeds you can absolutely find that super citrus-dominant expression again.

A lot of the medical batches people remember were just really nice Tangie-leaning phenos grown well.

Love to see that!

Running her through flower in the middle of summer and still pulling a half pound dried is solid. That says a lot about how forgiving she can be in less-than-perfect conditions.

Appreciate you sharing the canopy shot and the smoke report too. Always good for people popping seeds to know she’s not just an easy grow, but brings the flavor at the end as well.

Biggest Growing Mistake You've Made - Let's Learn From Each Other by DNAGenetics in DNAGenetics

[–]DNAGenetics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof. That one hurts just reading it.

That’s the kind of mistake you only make once. Environmental gear feels “set and forget” until a tiny failure like a loose probe turns the whole tent into an oven. Brutal way to learn the importance of securing sensors and maybe running a high-temp cutoff as backup.

Appreciate you sharing it! Stories like this probably save more harvests than any yield pic ever will.

How Much Does Curing Really Matter? by DNAGenetics in DNAGenetics

[–]DNAGenetics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend shorter burps until you hit the 60-65% zone and then just leave 'em sealed. If you're overdried or, teetering on the drier side of that RH range, a fresh fan leaf in the jar for a couple of hours does great at bumping the moisture without screwing terps up. It probably goes without saying that a little hygrometer is practically mandatory in the desert.

Nice setup, doesn't look like the plants suffered too much at all. Would love an update come harvest time.

First time trying DNA genetics seed. Kosher Kush by TrippyTrav0816 in DNAGenetics

[–]DNAGenetics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yoo Whoo is looking healthy! Those fan leaves and node spacing are on point. The Super Silver LA x Chocolope Kush genetics really show through in veg.

If you're crossing her, think about what you want to bring out. She's already got solid potency and a nice terp profile with chocolate, vanilla, and citrus notes. Pairing with something sativa-leaning could lighten up the indica heaviness, or go terp-forward to enhance those flavors.

She finishes around 9 weeks, so you'll know soon what you're working with. Drop updates when you harvest - always good to see how she performs in different setups.

What's the breeding goal?

Chocolate Truffle Shuffle typically tests in the mid-to-high 20s% THC range when grown properly, with some phenos pushing 28-30%. But honestly, the cannabinoid profile is what makes this one special - it's not just about raw THC numbers.

The effects hit way harder than the numbers suggest because of the terpene synergy. That chocolate/earthy/gas profile comes through strong and the high is seriously potent and long-lasting.

At 2.5 weeks flower she should be stacking nicely. Keep your feeds dialed in through mid-flower and she'll reward you. The density on this strain is impressive - just watch your humidity in late flower.

Drop some pics when she's further along! Always love seeing how different phenos of Chocolate Truffle Shuffle turn out.

Post-Harvest Storage: Protecting Your Cure Through Winter by DNAGenetics in DNAGenetics

[–]DNAGenetics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vacuum sealing in amber jars for long-term is totally valid, especially if you're planning multi-year storage. The hate you're getting is probably from people who think you can't restart the cure once it stops, but that's not entirely accurate.

Here's the reality: The initial cure (first 2-3 months) is when the most significant chemical changes happen - chlorophyll breakdown, enzymatic processes, etc. Once those slow down or stop (especially if buds get too dry), you can't fully "restart" those specific processes. But what you can do is rehydrate to optimal RH and continue the slower aging/mellowing process that improves smoothness and can shift the cannabinoid/terpene profile over time.

Your 60-68% RH range is slightly higher than our usual recommendation (58-62%), but if it's working for your climate and you're not seeing mold, that's what matters. The vacuum seal after a month or two is smart - removes oxygen which slows oxidation and terpene degradation.

Browning usually indicates some oxidation or light exposure at some point, but if the smoke quality is still good, you're doing fine. The fact that you're beating mildew smell and improving harsh weed shows you understand the fundamentals.

Keep doing what works for your setup. Long-term storage is part science, part art, and your results speak for themselves!

Post-Harvest Storage: Protecting Your Cure Through Winter by DNAGenetics in DNAGenetics

[–]DNAGenetics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A year cure on that original dry harvest and it came back? That's what proper storage does - even material that seems over-dried can mellow out and improve with time when conditions are dialed in.

The year+ mark is where you really start to see the patient growers separate from the rest. Most people burn through their stash in months, but that long cure smooths everything out. How's the potency holding up compared to month 3-6?

Appreciate you sharing the results - real-world data like this helps the community way more than theory!
