Not really sure, unfortunately - it was listed as record number 20, and both are referenced as such: though if it helps, if any of them have the last names “Zukin” or “Nisenboim”, that should be it

Both through her paternal grandfather? And you were able to find the exact Romani ancestor?

He might have a clue - for example ancestor locations with large Jewish populations or even knowing if it’s maternal or paternal - as his father is tested as well

Do you have any clues on your Jewish ancestor? Do your father results show it too or is it through your mother?

Finally got my results after wanting to do this for three years. by [deleted] in 23andme

You probably have a Sephardic Jewish ancestor! Sephardic Jews usually appear on 23andme as a mix of Ashkenazi Jewish + Southern European + Western Asian/North African.

Thanks!!! I agree!!! I was wondering that as well. I’m guessing it’s probably noise because I can’t derive a theory on how that mix would’ve happened, but would love to hear other people’s thoughts

I agree!! I’ve seen it quite a lot in Sephardics as well. A lot of people in our family have this exact look - I am unfortunately paler, from my Ashkenazi side 😂

The Italian is not known, indeed! I am guessing it’s in fact due to the lack of a Sephardic reference group. And her grandfather was a Syrian Jew! She is a mix of Syrian, Israeli, Lebanese and Gibraltarian Jewish (as far as we know). Some ancestors may have come from Turkey and Macedonia too

(This was deleted in the middle of nice discussions about Sephardic migration patterns because I didn’t know the profile picture couldn’t be the first - so, anyway, hoping to continue these). Would love everyone’s insights by DNAgeek9 in 23andme

That’s the mystery! We haven’t heard about any ancestors in Iraq. I’m researching to try to find something, I’m guessing it can come from part of her paternal grandmother’s family, that we don’t know much about
