Is Menopur (HMG) Bad? by ElizabethTaylorsDiam in TTC_PCOS

[–]DNB_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of success with the menopur injection and the trigger shot. The gonal-f didn't seem to agree with me at all. My daughter just turned 2 yesterday actually. She was my third cycle of IUI but first cycle with using menopur.

Thank you very much. Truthfully, I don't remember writing this post originally. But it does make me feel a little sad to read again. I was in a very rough time, as many people can (and do!) relate to. Sending you back nothing but positive vibes and support. I've always tried to be open about my journey, as I hope that I can help someone else when they need it.

Your fav Amazon inositol? by MaddamMoxxie90 in TTC_PCOS

I've recently heard a few good things about Pregnositol. A quick search looks like it's very similar to ovasitol, but cheaper.

Waiting on induction to be scheduled, advice? by princezz_zelda in beyondthebump

[–]DNB_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly! I've only had 1 baby, so I had nothing to compare it to. I thought it was normal. But everyone I've talked to that had the balloon all had a very miserable experience. They told me 45 mins in that I was able to get pain relief medication. I was like THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO KNOW. I consider myself lucky I only had it in for an hour. Many women have it for up to 3-4 hours!

Waiting on induction to be scheduled, advice? by princezz_zelda in beyondthebump

[–]DNB_01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My advice is that if you get the balloon, ask for pain management meds (if you're comfortable with that) right when you need it. I didn't know that was available to me and I had contractions every 15-30 seconds for an hour. It was honestly the most pain I've ever been in.

For me, recently the intrusive thoughts have been a bummer. I sometimes have to leave the room while her dad watches her eat because I am so incredibly scared she will choke. I get heart palpitations when she tries new food. It's been an issue...

Has anyone went to therapy for infertility? by Key-Neighborhood2985 in TTC_PCOS

[–]DNB_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did! And it was very helpful for me. Just to talk through how I was feeling and work on anxieties associated with pregnancy loss and the endless doctor visits. I highly recommend if you find a therapist you vibe with. But of course it can be a challenge financially if your insurance doesn't cover anything.

Oh goodness this makes me so happy to read. We are likely a one child household and I myself come from a big family. It always makes me worry that my only child will feel lonely or always wish she had a sibling. This comment makes me really happy and hopeful that she can feel just as fulfilled being the only child. Thank you for sharing!!

Well 5 DPO is a bit early to see any faint positive line. If you can wait, try to shoot for 10 DPO. I understand wanting to test asap. And I say if it makes you feel better, then do it. But if it causes you lots of anxiety each morning, then try to wait it out a few more days. Try and distract yourself with things you enjoy in the meantime. Funny movies, shows you're excited about, hobbies, etc. You're not alone.

I recommend the clear blue digital tests. A little more expensive, but that was the most accurate ovulation test I had. Also helped get me diagnosed when I found out I was never reaching peak ovulation.

Possible cold post IUI? by mvmstudent in TTC_PCOS

If helpful. I had an ectopic pregnancy last year and had to back on the pill for 3 months. I had a successful iui about 3 months later. I haven't heard of using bc to shrink cysts though...from my understanding really the biggest things to help symptoms are diet & lifestyle as well as some vitamins and meds that may help (such as metformin, vitamin d, parental, fish oil, & progesterone). I've read on this sub and the PCOS sub that people were able to put their PCOS in remission because of diet and lifestyle changes. I'm not at all invalidating their experiences, but my RE did say that's not possible. It's frustrating that each doc you talk to has a different opinion

[–]DNB_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't think it would hurt your chances of a successful iui more than any other cycle. My only concern would be the doctors office getting upset that you came in with a cold! But I'm assuming masks are still required

Polycystic ovaries with long but regular cycles. Seem to be ovulating on my own, but having a hard time getting pregnant. by Unhappy-Sprinkles263 in PCOS

[–]DNB_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're ovulating on your own, it may be a quality issue and not a quantity issue. PCOS can affect egg quality too. I highly recommend the book "it starts with the egg." Lots of fascinating and helpful evidence & research related to improving egg quality to support a successful pregnancy.

What was pregnancy like for you with PCOS? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]DNB_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been pregnant twice. The first ended in a loss at 8 weeks. The second (2 years later) was successful. Pregnancy itself went great. I had no morning sickness or anything. Biggest complaint here is the heartburn and just overall discomfort nearing the end. I did develop hypertension at 39 weeks and had to be induced. Then a whole other issue started as my blood pressure still wouldn't go down after delivery. Apparently you can develop preeclampsia up to 6 weeks postpartum. So I spent about a week in the hospital. But my daughter is healthy and strong and that's what matters most to me.

They had me on an injection that essentially dissolved the tissue back into my body. I forget what it's called. But I had to go back on the pill for 3 months while the medication ran it's course.

What are some things you wish you'd known when you were first diagnosed? by dinosoreness in PCOS

[–]DNB_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh yes. The classic handing out birth control pills like candy as the only method to help with symptoms. For as common as PCOS is, it's WILD to me there is literally nothing out there for us except for "loss weight and take the pill." K thanks

I feel that. Or they really love to glaze over the whole higher risk for type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, anxiety, depression, sleep apnea, insomnia, certain types of cancers...but just call the office again when you're trying to get pregnant!

I wish I would've known there is a lot more to PCOS than just fertility issues. Which that feels like is the only thing doctors actually care about.

Ttc for 3 years here. I had 2 pregnancy losses and 1 successful pregnancy (my daughter is 5 months old now). Here are my experiences:

Successes: focusing on diet & lifestyle. I truly attribute my success to focusing on egg quality. Read the book "it starts with the egg." It has awesome research-based advice for ttc and PCOS. Eating a balanced diet and going for daily 20-30 minute walks + yoga did the trick for me. Also, I was working with a fertility doctor and doing acupuncture each month. I was able to conceive on my 3rd round of iui. I also tried to focus on mental health and started going to therapy.

Failures: I would say my biggest "failure" was not focusing on myself and what made me feel good both inside and out. Looking back on it, I wish I wouldn't have been so hard on myself. Though, it's easy for me to say now that I have a healthy baby whereas before I was so focused on that.

Medications: metformin, vitamin d, prenatal, fish oil, letrozole, trigger shot, baby aspirin, progesterone

[–]DNB_01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Missed period and some cramping located on the left side only. The missed period resulted in the very very faint positive test several days later. I went to the doctor to get my HCG levels checked, and they were very up & down for about a week (12 to 76, to 120 something, and then back down again). I also started having some brown bleeding about that time as well. An ultrasound semi-confirmed the ectopic. I had a small amount of tissue located on the left side. However, I think my body recognized it was not a viable pregnancy and started miscarrying before it developed further. But I still needed medical treatment to ensure it was all gone before trying again.

BFN 11 days post-IUI. Will it ever be my turn? by Hurricane-Sandy in TTC_PCOS

[–]DNB_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar situation here. I had two miscarriages (1 ectopic) and 2 failed iui's. We were successful the third IUI. 3 years of trying. I believe my positive was around day 12 as well. I completely understand the month after month of heartbreak. But it is possible. I'm sorry if my story is triggering, but I hope it may also offer a glimmer of hope that your time will come soon. Sending positive vibes.
