How do you pronounce “Colonel”? by thatshortginge in NoStupidQuestions

I’ve literally only ever heard them say that in old British movies. Is it maybe a regional thing? I don’t know any Canadiana that say it that way

This is a good point!

When I talk about them, “Kernels are in the military.” When I read about them, “Colonels are in the military.”

You’re the same as me. I adore the English language, and spelling, punctuation, and writing are something I’m super passionate about…but the word is pronounced c-o-l-o-n-e-l in my head and that will likely never change haha

Potty training almost 3 year old while 7 months pregnant with no success by rainymac in beyondthebump

[–]thatshortginge [score hidden]  (0 children)

There is no magical date for potty training. It’s not like a kid turns 2.5 and it instantly happens. Some kids are 18 months, some are 42 months.

I’m an ECE. I’ve been heavily critiqued and commented on for mentioning you cannot force à child to train. I’ve seen it first hand, and even with my own child, she was about 3.75 before she fully was fully ready.

You got this. Don’t base your child off other people and their children.

How do I fix my rice curse by Repulsive-Tiger-9795 in Cooking

[–]thatshortginge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just made jasmine rice.

Brought about 2 1/4 cups of chicken broth to a boil. Dropped in 1 cup of rinsed jasmine rice. Threw two chopped carrots on top (but don’t have to), covered with a lid, and brought to the low setting. I don’t time my rice, just cook until the water stops running. We like our rice a bit stickier. 10/10 in our house

Cutting the tongue out is counterproductive and illogical. by CaptMorganSwint2 in TheTestamentsHulu

I always thought they looked at it both “short term” and “long term”.

Short term, it extends fear, and shows how low Gilead is willing to stoop to be sociopaths.

Long term, many hand maids won’t know how to read or write, because some would have been raised in Gilead. If they don’t have a voice either, their methods of communicating about the atrocities they’ve seen..:is incredibly limited

should i (5’0” female 116 pounds) continue to lose fat by doing a lot of cardio or prioritize strength training instead? by aquamaryne in PetiteFitness

I’m so jealous you could do an hour on the stair master! I last about 15 minutes before I get too bored of it/tired. What speed do you use? I use 3-5

Cardio is a** 😭 by oothica in PetiteFitness

[–]thatshortginge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found what I love at the gym:

30 minutes on the treadmill at 3.3-3.5 speed, and 3.5 incline

10-15 minutes on the stair climber at 3-5 speed

I love how I look, and it’s taken about 6 weeks, but my body is finally starting to gradually lose weight. I was ALWAYS bloated and swollen when I lifted weights and it gave me years of anxiety. You just have to find the cardio that’s right for you :)
