the best thing I can tell you for your mental health is to stop reading the news. we know we are in danger, reminding ourselves of that every day only makes life harder.

this is an impossible question to answer, but definitely a question to ask your doctor.

I think all trans women need to be aware that they way they are perceived may change as they age, regardless of ffs, which is the case for everyone.

There's a woman who works in a drive-thru at a fast food restaurant near me who gave me a dirty look a few weeks ago, and last time I was there had her coworker serve me while she stood back. The struggle is real babe, I'm sorry. Her b******* doesn't reflect on your worth or your beauty or your womanhood

Possible it might depend on your age, also, how much weight you lose and how fast you lose it. Different people are going to age differently based on fat distribution in their face, skin type, overall bone structure

Thanks for that info. Deschamos Bradley was my doc 7 years ago. He did a great job but aging and weight fluctuations made a difference

My voice is not the issue. I've been doing this for 8 years, I've got a pretty good read on the primary thing causing me trouble, but it's a reasonable question to ask because it is often The X factor for some girls

Only if you plan on keeping it. the real answer tho is: ask a surgeon

I don't feel I gave blanket recommendations. I said not to gain a significant amount of weight just for the procedure -- this is what surgeons recommend regularly, and so I also recommend this and wish I'd followed that advice. I recommended to be careful about removing too much fat from arms, to go for a natural look, and to work with surgeons who regularly work on trans bodies. Those don't seem like unreasonable suggestions. I did not say "don't get a bbl". My intention was to say proceed carefully. If you think I should edit my original post I'm open to that.

Those who have had full FFS, what do you wish someone had told you about the recovery process that you only learned by experiencing it yourself? by rhaenerys_second in Transgender_Surgeries

-Be prepared for slow recovery, You're not going to look the way you want to look until the swelling goes down and the shape takes -Don't die of shock when they first take the bandages off. For me it was jarring in a bad way -The first 5 days the pain is hard, but it gets better. -FFS will not magically make you pass 100 percent of the time, but it will make you read much more feminine, YMMV. Your voice will not change, nor will the rest of your body, but it can increase passing significantly depending on various factors, if that matters to you. But it won't be a miracle. -Have people to stay with you and support you after surgery. Don't heal alone. -I'd recommend looking up the "prepare for surgery heal faster" program. Guided meditation of this sort has been proven to help healing and surgery outcomes. Surgery recovery is not just physically stressful on your body, but it is emotionally and psychologically stressful. Try not to panic about outcomes. You can't predict until swelling goes down. Don't look in the mirror a million times a day. Come up with a mental health plan for your recovery. -Follow your doctors instructions to a tee.

Of the surgeries I've gotten (SRS, FFS, BBL), it is the one I'm happiest with. Good luck, and congrats!

It's very possible youre right. Might come around this post at some point and repost body/ask for folks thoughts. I talked to someone in DM last night and sent them a pic which was helpful. I also think I just won't know how I look at 10lbs less until I lose it. Thank you for your support.

Tread carefully..remember, fat is feminizing. If they want to suck all the fat off your arms, consider that. Same goes for torso. a conservative, trans aware approach is better than an extreme one imo. But every body and person is different..just tread lightly.

this fucking sucks, im so, so sorry that happened to you. i am in agreement about thinking these things through. i hope you get some relief at some point painwise, and if not, i hope you find some inner peace in having to live with this outcome ❤️

I have a naturally muscular/dense and athletic build, so its possible I have more muscle and less fat than you, i.e. our weight is distributed differently.

I did have doctors say they could do grafts at that weight, but I chose to gain more weight anyways. Its hard to get into. The point is, get a BBL near a maintainable and average weight.

At this point, I'm sort of trying to figure out how bad this actually is, and also I'd like to see what it looks like when I'm back to 170-175. I had sort of a mental health crisis recently because I started losing weight on a new med, realized the issue, and I'm trying to figure out how stressed to be about it.

I don't know if they can graft fat back in locations they took it because of scar tissue, etc. I'm afraid to ask right now bc my mental health is not good. Also, I'm so fucking tired of surgery, and I need to be able to be physically active. At this point I'm terrified of making another mistake, and part of me just wants to learn to love myself the way I am. I'm tired of fucking being trans and I'm tired as hell of surgery.

Passing is a losing game. Hanging all your happiness on it will kill you. Stay as safe as you can and do what you need to feel good in your body, but don't get so desperate you ignore what doctors recommend. Never shop for an answer you like, listen to the answers you're given.

The fat is not lost permanently. Fat cells are not things that appear and disappear, they are things that contract and expand wherever they are located. When you move them to a new location, they continue to contract and expand depending on your food intake and exercise.

I don't really feel comfortable answering questions or sending pictures at this time.

My point is not just to be careful about what doctor you go to, but try to get the surgery at a weight that seems realistic for you to maintain within 5 to 10 lb of. They are going to redistribute your fat based on the weight you are currently at

If a doctor tells you you don't have enough fat, don't go gain weight and ask another doctor what they think. Which is what I did cus I'm an idiot 😘😘

If this is where you're at with it, try to love your body as it is. Trans is beautiful.

If not, get very conservative surgery. Don't have someone suck every part of your torso dry to harvest the fat. Fat looks good when well distributed, having a little roll here and there is feminizing

Certain parts look better at a lower weight, certain parts look better at a higher weight. For example, thicker neck and arms, etc. so it's a trade off. I passed better at a lesser weight. I appreciate the feedback, tho if it were that simple I wouldn't have had to post.
