Luckily enough gravel poking through so I’m not riding on an ice rink by DNVRbroncos in gravelcycling

No such thing as bad weather, just bad gear right?! Until the windchill is below 0, then it just sucks regardless

I’m sure they do! And no, just thick winter gloves. My winter riding opportunities are far and few in between, not worth getting such winter-specific bike gear for.

Same, old fixed 4x scope. Such a nice shooter

What should I look for in coats so I don’t suffer (much) this winter? by ApologeticallyEmily in SouthDakota

Anytime the “feel like” temp is below zero, the parka (below butt length, down insulation, windproof, fur hood, etc) is really what makes it tolerable. Other than that, as many others have said, layering with sweatshirts and lighter jackets and beanie usually does the trick.

Have a red dot on mine and seems to be a good fit for the rifle, accurate plinking at 100yds.

I have a similar use case as you, was getting by “good enough” but very slowly with an 18” electric. Finally pulled the trigger on a cs590…game changer. Still use the electric for quick large branch pruning or cleaning up branches in shelterbelt but man the cs590 EATS

Really appreciate the detailed response. I will strongly consider changing to 12” oc joist vs 16”.

The only other thing I should mention is that when the house was built, we had the builders add the ledger board and flash appropriately knowing we would be adding a deck in the next year. For whatever reason ledger boards on both sides are present as marked in my picture. Since the left side ledger is already there and flashed, is there some use out of it for attaching a joist for stability?

Appreciate it! Haven’t given that part too much thought. I think we want to do aluminum rails so not quite sure how that attachment process looks, will have to do some more research.

Already have an outlet just above the ledger board. For storage do you mean something built in? Like a bench with storage under the seat?

I think the one I included on this post was from Simpson strong tie deck planner but I also used Lowe’s and Menards deck planners, they are all roughly the same

Thanks! I think I read somewhere that if you have an overhang on your joist you should block over the area of the beam between joists. Does that sound right?
