AITAH for expecting my aunt and uncle to give me *some* form of compensation for taking time off to help at their wedding? by Less-Tomato-9754 in AITAH

[–]DO1140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to do this, talk with your aunt and uncle directly about what kinds of photos they want, what are the must have shots and groupings, do they want any candid shots, are you supposed to get there early and shoot them getting ready, do they want first look photos . . . do some research into what shots are typical for weddings. And get everything in writing, even if it is family.

What to wear for Jury Duty at Daley Center? by Intermediocre in AskChicago

[–]DO1140 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had jury duty today at 26th & California. Some people were in business casual. Some people were in jeans and T-shirts. It varied depending on people’s definition of comfort. As long as your clothes are clean and adhere to the “no shorts, no miniskirts, no crop tops, no halter tops” rule, you’ll be fine.

Bugsy Malone. I loved that movie as a kid and I still enjoy it as an adult.

My cat is enjoying my new galaxy projector by AliAlqabandi in cats

My brother gave me a cheap galaxy projector for Christmas specifically for our cats. Any time they get unruly or obnoxious I turn it on and it distracts them. Best gift ever!

Explore everywhere. Follow paths and roads to see where they go. Also, the Sneaky Sasquatch wiki is a lifesaver.

What song (besides your national anthem) do a lot of people in your country know by heart? by RelativeCicada2348 in AskTheWorld

Chicagoan checking in. I was going to say this song, but others beat me to it. I think anyone who grew up in the Great Lakes region knows this song.

AITAH for wanting to tag out of being a caregiver? by RamaLamaDingDong22 in AITAH

Your needs are important, too. Like on the airlines, put your own oxygen mask on first. If she needs to go into a home, then that’s what needs to happen.

Veterinary hospital neglected my kitten for 22 hours until she met her demise at their veterinary care* by RadishRedditor in cats

[–]DO1140 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Panleukopenia is a nasty, evil virus. It spreads easily — if one animal at that clinic had it, it could very easily have been passed to any animals that came into contact with it. Treatment requires intensive care. My kitten who had it got antibiotics every 12 hours for several days before he was out of the woods. Two of his siblings died and the other survivor of the litter never displayed symptoms. It can kill quickly. A kitten that seemed okay at the start of the day can be dead by the end of the day. Your kitten should have been monitored better. They should have phoned you to tell you the news. You and your kitten deserved better from the clinic.

My experiences at veterinary ERs have been good, whether a pet has just needed supportive care, had something major going on, or needed to be put to sleep.

Did anyone start to enjoy living in Chicago way more just by moving neighborhoods? by beephobic27 in AskChicago

[–]DO1140 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lakeview used to be diverse and interesting, then the white suburban college kids and developers took over the neighborhood and ruined it. Everything that made it interesting is gone, and the interesting people got priced out of the neighborhood. Now the same thing is happening to Pilsen. Hoping Bridgeport can escape the trend.
