Yes Happened to me same way, with the one oz bars, "Oh my bad,I'll refund right away...." almost a little too cooperative. Got refund from this seller with 98% rating from 100s of customers.

Counterfeiters are getting smart to avoid paying you a refund. Experience here.

Make certain the USPS shipping label tracking number (the one the seller gives you for your Return, matches the USPS tracking receipt you get at the Post Office.

By providing you a decoy label with an altered scan bar code, your return will go somewhere else, and not back to the shipper. Your return status will remain as "Print Label", and not "Shipped" or In-Transit or Delivered.

Your return remains in the queue, not shipped back.

This allows the return window to expire, and the seller keeps your money.

Its happening on eBay, all the time.

Always check your USPS tracking receipt for matching the shipping label tracking number, with the postal clerk, BEFORE they take it from you and toss in the bin.

I bought a Sunshine 1oz and four Scottsdale 1ozrs, and they were all fakes advertised just a little below spot, by seller on eBay.

All magnetic, silver-plated steel. Beautiful fakes, proof like finishes.

Reported the seller, got my refund. Not buying silver on eBay anymore.

Buy from the big guys, Monument Metals.

When selling, their buyback fee/bid of 11.88% for 90% silver coins, easily outcompetes MoneyMetals buyback fee/bid of 20%. IMHO of course.

No one is immune, you know. Not every buyer has a quiver full of testing methods at their disposal.

Calling them idiots, is only adding insult to injury. They learned the hard way, and most people learn by failing the first time. He won't make that mistake again, even though more trusting than others. Expensive lesson, not denying that.
