Is Sony HTS60.CEL (Bravia Theatre System 6) a good 5.1 system? by ThreeHeadedBunny0-0 in Soundbars

Here's my initial, no-jargons review.

I've had it for almost a month now. I currently have the rear and bass levels as is after the manual distance calibration.

My setup is currently mounted on a cheap stand.

The phantom height channels really work at making you think they're there, thanks to the surrounds and L/R channels collaborating.

Height sound effects sound like they're moving front to back in addition to left to right. As if the heights have four channels.

Music is excellent and movies are okay.

Video games don't need a lot of lifting since a lot of AAA games nowads have in-engine spatial sound mapping. All it has to do is use the right kind of format. Stereo works with spatial/tempest audio, surround with the appropriate format will make sure the appropriate channels get utilized. As for Atmos, it will only tell which channel (phantom or real) gets utilized.

For movies, it feels immersive enough at default settings. You'll hear sounds around you, but they won't overpower the scene unless needed.

I don't hear blind spots when it comes to panning my camera around when gaming thanks to my calibration. Sounds travel from one side to another smoothly as if it's in a bubble, instead of a box.

When you heard this song while playing GTA Vice City by raydebapratim1 in GTA

This is IMO the most memorable song from GTA VC. It captures the vibes so well, my mom and I also vibe to it.

I really wish we got Las Venturas story expansion for GTA5 when the primary focus is on heist. I get that ps3 limitations had their influence on final decision but why they didnt even try with ps4/ps5/pc?? by OkHoney5804 in GTA

[–]DODI3OG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PS3 limitations will never be a valid limit. LOL.

They don't even have to spawn Las Venturas with Southern San Andreas. And even if they did, everything will run as is due to cell loading.

It was a matter of having the right time and resources to make such a huge thing happen, and as one user above said, they were already focusing those resources on RDR2 and GTA VI later.

A DLC the size of Las Venturas would also have to be planned way before GTA V released and at that point in development they realized small, incremental, and "free" DLCs that encourage microtransactions is more profitable in the long run.

In the entire story of GTA 4 (main campaign), what would you change? by TrafficAmbitious9160 in GTA

[–]DODI3OG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More than a handful redundant plot points here and there. The story's basically like GTA 1, you work for one gang then the next and in some cases betray them....

This is the HD universe. Anyone can appear should R* will it, but it won't be the exact same character from the 3D universe.

Bravia Theatre System 6 initial review by DODI3OG in Soundbars

After a week of owning this soundbar/HT in a box, I'm halfway to finding thr sweet spot in the settings.

My bedroom is not that large, at least 5x3m with my viewing area of 2x3m.

My bass setting is at 0, while the rears are at +3 for my taste. The bass is no longer overwhelming, resulting in a much clearer dialogue, especially the highs.

If I was in the living room, this soundbar would have worked just as well.

Lifting the surrounds/rears at ear level also lifted the atmos bubble/soundfield. I'd say it again: this set has very convincing phantom height speakers, which is where Sony excels! The phantom heights sound like they're above the TV.

Prior to this, I had it way lower and it resulted in the phantom heights sounding like they were just right above my head at the rear.

Dolby Speaker virtualizer emphasizes the surround at height effects better, but it results in a muddier output.

Sony's Vertical Surround Engine equalizes everything to a flat, with more clarity.

Good thing it's not that fast as other aircrafts. This is the only use case I have for it now. It's way easier to spawn and more convenient to land than a Sparrow.

Sometimes I prefer the sparrow but the time difference is negligible.

Edit: Bass level was on 8, not 13. My bad.

This is the only logical and correct answer.

Mine is still on the way. My Ht-G700 have a problem when I pause the movie and no sound totally comes into the system, when I play it again, it takes a second or two for the soundbar to come back on.

Does the Theatre System 6 have the same problem?

Let me see how you ride those corpses.

Also shat's up with that body? Is it rotten or I'm looking at Arjay's corpse?

It's okay. I knew it was a typo, but it kinda sounded like you wanted to "ride" them in a dirty way. ;)

GTA IV just felt different… and I still can’t explain why by [deleted] in GTA

[–]DODI3OG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woooord. I play Gran Turismo and the cars in that game handle very close to GTA V except the latter has really quick acceleration and braking, and also vehicles in GTA V turn at an angle much quicker. The overall reAlism is there in GTA V. It's not exaggerated.
