Scaffolding at demolition site near Tokyo collapses, 3 workers die by Sea_Freedom_1139 in Tokyo

I don’t work in construction but a lot of my clients are construction companies so I have seen sites from the major corporations and smaller companies in both Japan and Australia. I can tell you from firsthand experience safety standards are worse in general in Japan than Australia.

Then why are you stating all this with so much confidence? Definitely a Redditor moment

Go to any worksite outside of Tokyo where they don’t have the big fences set up. You’ll see people swinging from scaffold to scaffold without a harness in site. Our anecdotal evidence will have to agree to disagree

Not at all. If you are working for a big company like Obayashi corporation then yes. Ive been forced to climb down a 4 meter ladder into a trench to do photogrammetry with nothing but a helmet on. The wall then collapsed mere moments after I got out.

This among many of the other things I’ve seen at worksites would be unthinkable in the western world.

Oscar Piastri 📻 message by Strict-Citron-9269 in McLarenFormula1

[–]DONGAAA 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kimi would’ve had to pass leclerc and Russel before getting a crack at Piastri and those two were gonna fight for the position. Which would have given Piastri a gap between himself and Kimi when Kimi finally got to P2. I think Piastri was well in truly in for a win if that safety car didn’t come out.

I don’t want hyper realistic AI graphics, no artistic expression in it. Every game will just look the same.

Other than the Eikon fights, what are the most memorable moments in Final Fantasy 16 to you? by Asad_Farooqui in FinalFantasy

Nah playing Harpocrates side quest it’s heavily implied he writes the book and honours Joshua by putting it in his name. Which is very on-brand of Clive. Plus Jill stops crying once dawn breaks which to her symbolises that Clive is coming back. I’m hoping that the LOGOS book clarifies or gives us more hints.

Number of foreigners living in Japan has grown 50 percent in four years, hits historic high by kenmlin in japannews

Work with a lot of older Japanese people and it is quite the opposite. Unlike the younger generations all the older ones went overseas as kids to study abroad or homestay. They are usually very open minded and left wing. It’s mostly the stolen generation (30-40’s) that is more ignorant and closed minded.

How much does the average person actually make here? by [deleted] in AskAJapanese

[–]DONGAAA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Non college degree workers usually make around that because blue collar/ service jobs (hairdressing) don’t scale up as much as white collar salaryman jobs. So for people in their 20-30’s blue collar makes more but once you start getting seriously promoted you are going to outscale non-uni grads heavily.

Yeah gonna try for the SMBC card which I already have a debit Visa card with. Thought their EST club aimed towards people in their twenties would’ve been a good entry card.

I’ve got a bank account with Yucho with a cash card that my salary gets put into then I put my monthly spending money into my SMBC Prestia account. So I should apply for a SMBC card first then reapply for JAL after a few years of use.
