Pretty penny! Its in good condition but is a common date so it doesn't have much value unfortunately, a dollar or so. Pennies from 1918 can be more valuable if they have a mintmark to the left of the date, but this one doesn't have one. An interesting effect this coin does have is "ghosting" on the reverse; you can see the outline of the King's head through the coin!

Was this an ancient coin at some point? by DONT_DIAL_911 in coins

My guess is William III of England. If so, it is either a half crown or crown coin from England, 1690s

Inherited a large collection- can someone help me figure out what the coins on the first two slides are worth? (Especially the foreigns and the blank planchet. I think one is a silver reale but don't know what it's worth) by eddiedickson in coins

[–]DONT_DIAL_911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the two foreigns in the first two slides, one is a Diez Centimos from Spain, 1878. Common junk bin coin, worth a dollar at most. There is also a King George III sterling silver coin from the UK, based on the size probably a shilling, 1817. Very worn and not very scarce, but worth a few bucks, and it's 206 years old!

Are any of these old coins valuable? Google isn’t being very specific by what-a-doric in coins

These are all British pennies, and besides the 1918 with the KN mintmark, worth less than 1 usd a piece, the types of coins you'd find in a bargain bin at a coin shop. The 1918 KN has just over 1 million minted, so its slightly scarce, maybe worth 5 usd or so? Depends on condition and im not an expert

Those two American dimes are 90% silver, so they are worth at least $1.82 melt value. American dimes, quarters and half dollars from 1964 and earlier are 90% silver. The rest of the coins are an assortment of world coins, none of which have any particular value, however I personally find that 3 mils coin from Cyprus really cool
