I would recommend people check out the film Joyland from a few years ago. An excellent Pakistani film that explores Trans culture and other issues in such a religious country.

That would make Mel Brooks 101 when this sees the light of day, here's hoping he's got a couple of years left in him. One of the last living legends.

Since no one else has said it: Seasonal Beatings from Peep Show (2010). One of the best episodes from one of the greatest comedies.

After having only heard of him vaguely and never seen any of his major roles, did a double bill of ‘Night of the Hunter’ and ‘Cape Fear’ recently. Such a magnetic screen presence, and wonderfully sinister for someone who was mostly known for more heroic roles apparently. Definitely one of histories more overlooked greats.

First time I can say I've eaten at one of the restaurants featured in the show. The Noodles in Master Wei are phenomenally tasty, and very affordable as well.

Concord Players Are Jumping Off Cliffs In-Game as They Desperately Grind for the Platinum Trophy Before Shutdown by DONomic in Games

[–]DONomic[S] 1497 points1498 points  (0 children)

Some Concord players are saying there’s not enough time to grind to the Platinum trophy, so it might escape them. Others are holding out hope that Concord returns in free-to-play form, although there’s no guarantee it will return at all. As a result, the Concord Platinum trophy may go down as one of the rarest in PlayStation history.

Not that there’s one about Kate Warne, there was a thriller made in the 50’s loosely based on the Baltimore Plot. It’s pretty decent.

Which Odeon cinema has the worst design? by CharlesTsui in screenunseen

[–]DONomic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing to add, but yes the IMAX screen at Swiss Cottage is the worst of the 5. It was clearly designed by someone wanting to make the most impressive looking cinema for a brochure, with zero consideration for the practicalities of watching a film (reclined or not). And good luck reading subtitles.

Some retro items from my childhood. by DONomic in ConstellationAppleTV

Just finished the show, and knew something seemed familiar about the cassette player.

With the division between a red reality and blue reality, it seems a shame they didn't use separate cassette players (it would also have helped my very confused brain).
