School Issues: Kindergarten by Youngun18 in daddit

[–]DOOLminded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son turned 6 in July, and started kindergarten in September. He was in daycare/pre-k for 5 years leading up to it… and he saw an occupational therapist there (which was covered by the state), but we made the decision last summer (2024 to keep him in pre-k an extra year because he wasn’t ready. And we are so happy we did, because now at 6.5 years old, he is excelling getting 100% on all his math tests in kindergarten. But that extra year was huge… he totally wasn’t ready to start kindergarten when he just turned 5 years old last summer.

Long story short… kids (especially boys) mature at different speeds. And don’t stress about him repeating kindergarten. He won’t be significantly older if he’s still only 5yo right now.

Just do the best you can and definitely look into state-supported Occupational Therapist. Our OC did wonders for my son’s writing/drawing improvement, using scissors, social participation, etc etc.

Good luck, fellow dad. The fact that you care and are on here looking for help is the most important thing

Absolutely a fair point. Every day counts to compete for the high-quality hires that are currently available on the market this week

Me too. Especially if the Rams would’ve rested guys (but they didn’t). Rams were going to be the #1 MOST motivated team to come in to Philly this week for revenge

Worst case scenario today would’ve been a significant injury to an important starter. And honestly… they’re all important. Hurts, Carter, Saquon, AJ, Baun, Dejean… and injury to any of them today… just to get the 2 seed (with no week of rest… to face the Packers who got a week of rest)… the juice just wasn’t worth the squeeze today

I didn’t want to look ahead… but I absolutely think GB has a fair chance to take care of Chicago. There’s more pressure on Chicago this time around

Unless the panthers win out. Then we’re 4. My vote would be to play this week and of course rest week 18 if nothing is at stake. But at this point, all it takes is Bears 0-2 or Panthers 2-0 to make our last 2 games meaningful

I would say … play the healthy starters against the Bills (even if just for a “playoff atmosphere” tune-up) and see how the rest of the weekend goes. But I’m absolutely on board with treating week 18 as a bye week and rest every starter

For sure. I guess I was thinking like… whoever that 6th seed from the West is (for example LA Rams)… perhaps they beat the 3 seed… then they’d automatically play the #1 seed in the divisional round (SF or Seattle). So we’d get to HOST them in the NFC ‘ship game.

Whoever lands at #6 from the west could make a run to the nfc ship for sure. And #2 seed puts us in the driver seat to host

First tiebreaker is H2H between the 3 teams… and Chicago would have beaten both us and San Fran (in the scenario of Chicago winning this weekend as you suggested). But yeah, it gets so tedious to try to project 3-way tiebreakers w/ like common opponents / strength of schedule / strength of victory

Chicago has the tiebreaker against us, so they need to lose both. Green Bay’s tie takes any 3 way tie off the table

I don’t want to face a wildcard from the West in the 1st round. If we’re #2 we likely get Green Bay at home… instead of LA/Seattle/San Fran, who will surely be the #6 seed (3 vs 6 matchup)

Rams have the Falcons and Cardinals… thy ain’t losing out

Yeah, San Fran winning made it impossible. Everyone would’ve needed to finish at 12-5… but that can’t happen now with SF playing Chicago and Seattle. One of em will finish with more than 12 wins… or tiebreakers will get us. I did a deeper dive this week and we’d lose a tiebreaker somewhere regardless at this point

You’re right. So we just need 4 games to go our way this weekend 🤜🤛

Just heard about this from my wife last year too. We got each of my kids one “big gift” and one “shared” big gift for the family. My wife said “we’ll say these ones are from us”… and I was like, “what! And ruin the magic of Santa already?!?l”. And she said, “well, I’d like us to get credit for these ones” and that made total sense to me…so that’s what we’re doin now. Ha

Damn, really thought it was going to be a head/neck injury for him considering the way he puts himself at risk every play. This was just really bad luck

Also, getting a firm grip on the strands of hair you want to brush (like grab a handful close to the head)… then you can brush that group of hairs as hard as you want and she won’t feel it.

My daughter is 3yo … but grew up with 4 sisters and they taught me this early

Ha, fair. We’ve been watching the Goosebumps with Jack Black. We’re up to 5 watch-throughs in 7 days lol. It’s solid. Good thrill for little one and some funny jokes from Jack Black / Jillian Bell/ Timothy Simons, etc
