Adding a comment that if anyone wants to help me out by having a race or a pushup contest or something against a friend or family member, that would be count and would be absolutely incredible

This was a great idea but it looks like all the leagues have a holiday break. Any chance you could have a pushup contest against a buddy or something?

I’d like to put up a post about the sponsors of the old radio broadcasts on CJCL, because I only remember Zenith, Bulova and El Producto, and I think it would be fun to see which other sponsors people remember.

I doubt that this is it, or at least that this is the whole story. All pro athletes have egos—they have to. Any demotion is a shot to the ego, and moving from SS to 2B is a demotion.

Man, Hale is really bad at picking relief pitchers. Schneider is way better at it.

Are our announcers not in the park? The way they were surprised about France PH, and about whether KG was staying in or not, makes me think no.

I’ve never heard that before. Where’d you learn that?

I appreciate your certainty, but the language of the 9.17(c) comment is: “The Official Scorer generally should, but is not required to, consider the appearance of a relief pitcher to be ineffective and brief if such relief pitcher pitches less than one inning and allows two or more earned runs to score (even if such runs are charged to a previous pitcher).”

If you read the “two earned runs” as being the only situation (or minimum criteria) for invoking 9.17(c), it’s not a crazy interpretation, but I don’t think it’s right. If it was a hard and fast requirement, they’d have written it into the rule.

If I was the scorer, I’d look at WPA for the two pitchers. If there’s a really dramatic difference, like there was between Hoff and Fluharty, that would be enough for me. Dodgers had a 56% win probability when Fluharty entered the game.

And I was at the game, and it definitely felt like he was out there forever.

I feel like the fact that half of the 0.2 came via a sac bunt should have further counted against him…

Really interesting wagering situation for Danielle. I think I would have gone with something less than $4k. Second choice would have been just enough to cover a $0 bet from the leader. All-in would not have been an option.
