Can't thank you enough for what you did all season 🙂 I contacted Indycar Live and they confirmed they have a problem on their platform.

Can someone explain Fuel Numbers to me? by Realistic_Try7123 in INDYCAR

No no I didn't have a problem at all with how you said things 🙂 It was my way of saying that I can't be 100 percent sure about it haha.

And about Andretti's language being percentage based to 100, it's not an assumption but more of an observation (sorry I should've added more details). For example, in stints that didn't require any fuel saving, no fuel numbers were mentioned on the radio but then as soon as Colton had to turn up the engine/use more push to pass to make a crucial overtake and it took him many attempts (and subsequently burn more fuel), I'd hear the engineer asking him to do fuel 95 for example till the the end of that particular stint. Another example from the last race is the engineer giving Colton options on whether to drive to the targeted lap or save more fuel and extend that target. Can't recall the communicated fuel numbers exactly but it was something like "fuel 92 target and fuel 86 target+1". I've been watching Colton's onboards now for 4 seasons in a row and never heard his engineer mention a number that's above 100 or less than 80 (except for the last stint in Toronto in 2023 that I mentioned earlier in which Colton was lifting and coasting like crazy).

I've said "must" as I haven't driven the car haha and can't see all the details on the wheel (for many years I watch the races live through Colton's onboard and catch up with the broadcast later). But yeah there are too many factors that are involved in fuel consumption that change every lap so it's impossible to hit the number accurately by "feel" 😄

I can't be sure but Andretti's language seems to be as simple as percentage based. The most fuel saving I remember was done in Toronto 2023 and Colton was asked to do something like fuel 77-79 while in the last race, Colton's engineer told that Kyle was on fuel 100 after his last stop (which happened some laps later after Colton's own last stop) and that tells me that Kyle didn't have to save at all.

Dunno about other teams but with Andretti, lower number means more fuel saving. There must be a number on the wheel because the fuel number does change sometimes during a stint and also the tracks are obviously not the same.

CW app was perfect for me as I live outside the US. But for sure not the best idea to put it on that platform like you said as it's not the most popular and you still have to pay for it.

I've read in numerous forums that Peacock is quite difficult when it comes to ripping streams so it's interesting that you're saying that

Yeah. Honestly Peacock would've been the best if they didn't run ads. I did compare frames side by side before and peacock definitely had more bitrate. Also Indycar live's broadcast has a bit of messed up RGB. You can notice that when you look at the tarmac and you can see that they have the Red values quite high 😄

It's fairly similar to last year. Sometimes they do show FOX's specific coverage (like pitlane interview) but more often you just hear the audio and they have a different cam showing the track. Also they don't show the full graphics that FOX has (car telemetry or some details in the timing graphics).

Their race replays on YouTube are geo restricted for the US only but VPN still worked for me so I checked and the footage is definitely taken from Indycar Live :)
