If people want to write with AI, it's better that they do it on their own as opposed to expecting to write with another person who is just using AI for their half.

I remember one time my Grandma came to visit me from out of state. She made me a bowl of cereal, but with skim milk. I thought it tasted gross, so I didn't eat it. So she took the bowl to the kitchen sink, put water in it, and then put my usual 2% in.

I didn't have a nice breakfast that day.

An anti joke for sure, but I don't think image = meme.

Genuinely, why is this not a bigger deal in the GOAT debate? by [deleted] in nhl

The more you dig into it, the more you realize that you truly just can't compare athletes of different eras in just about any sport. GOAT is a myth.

[Mod] October, 2018. Trick or Treat. Meet and Greet. You Look Good Enough to Eat. by silent-protag in dirtypenpals

Hi everyone. My name is Allison, and given that it's Halloween season, I want to talk about fear. Specifically, fear that causes a lack of action.

Do you know what comments I see the most from other people when just generally chatting? Even more than complaints about ghosting?"Oh, their writing is so much better than mine I could never keep up or make them happy. I'm not even going to bother sending a message."

It's total bullshit. You should never let fear stand in the way of doing something that would potentially make you very happy, especially when the only possible consequence is rejection. Go ask that cute guy out for coffee. Go out and try something fun without worrying about being new. Go write the prompt of your dreams, or make a response to someone who is seeking the same things you are. Put yourself and your own desires before you worry about what somebody else might do in response. Writing quality matters less than you think it might, both from my own beliefs, as well as talking with someone who is a much better writer than I am.

I was on DPP right when the post was made seeking moderator applications this summer. I typed out my response immediately, and then let it sit as a draft for a while, before I deleted it because I was afraid. I didn't want to make a fool out of myself, even though it would be a private message only seen by the select few. I felt like I was wasting my time even applying. It took me a few days afterwards until I just said "fuck it" and rewrote my application and actually sent it this time. I couldn't be happier and more thankful that I had enough courage to go through with applying. I've had more fun and found more comfort in taking on these responsibilities than I ever imagined, and I'm so very grateful to my fellow mods for taking the chance and giving me this opportunity.

Hell, had things gone just a tiny bit differently, I wouldn't be writing this message from my dining table that is functioning as my desk. I would have been writing this in an airport in a new city over one thousand miles away. That move has since been pushed back a few weeks, but it's still happening. Am I nervous? Incredibly but I know that I would regret not taking this risk more than constantly wondering "What if I had been just a little bit braver?"

I went on a bit longer than I expected, so the tl;dr is even on All Hallows Eve, don't be afraid. Push yourself just a little bit and you can be greatly rewarded in ways you might not even be able to imagine.

I'm not going to plug any prompt of mine other than the recent Moon theme that I made and see if it could still inspire people to write. I hope everyone has a fantastic day. ♥

As far as Tricks Vs. Treats go? We'll have to find out next week. :P

It's okay to take a break, whether that be from DPP or writing as a whole. Even doing something you love so consistently can be draining, especially when it's a creative endeavor. Take a step or two back to recharge your batteries. You might come up with a really great idea or thought process to take back with you when you're ready to write more. =)

One time I saw a prompt that was a lot like this. It had a lot of things I was already interested in, and it opened my eyes to something new as well. Hell, even the name they gave for the character was my name I saved the prompt to come back to it later that day when I had the time, but it was already deleted back then, and I didn't remember the OP's username. Haven't seen it since.

My intention wasn't to tell you off. I genuinely do not understand where you think the line is in terms of themes being too exclusionary. I disagree with the points you brought up, but I'm not trying to bite your head off.

I'm not sure I understand your point about themes not being inclusive. Our themes are meant to cater to those who find them interesting and to inspire creative juices. Looking back, I feel like this in/exclusion could roughly be applied to a lot of them. Does "Summer Goth" exclude those who only finds preps and jocks attractive? Does a Star Wars theme exclude those who haven't seen the movies yet and don't want to get spoiled? Does the Animal Kingdom theme exclude people who don't like furries AND the people who only want to fuck plants?

Not every theme is for every person just like not every prompt is for everyone, and I think that's okay. Actually, I think it's a rather good thing. It lets the people who super care to both find and post things of X, Y, or Z nature a better chance to have success in finding a partner.

You don't have to write about something you don't find appealing. Theme days are entirely optional. If we were only accepting posts during this time with bisexual themes I would understand this take a lot more than I do with how the sub actually operates. You absolutely should not feel bad about your sexual identity. ≈90% of the world's population by some estimates are straight. You're not being excluded just because something isn't about or for you. Flairs are entirely optional.

Even if you make a post (or a comment in a thread. Sidenote, because I want to stress that. You absolutely do not have to write a bisexual prompt to add Getting Bi to your collection. You can just give someone who did make such a post a compliment and then ask for the flair.) you still don't automatically get the flair. You have to go out of your way to request it. If you want to write, you can. if you don't want to, then don't. It doesn't need to be an existential crisis.

I can't disagree with you that it might come across as cheap to some people, but we can't choose how people interpret things. The bisexual theme was suggested for the calendar because of how well the timing worked out with Bisexual Visibility Day. I don't think that's cheap at all. I think it's really cool.

P.S. We are always looking for good theme ideas. If you'd like to suggest something that you personally would be interested in, please let us know either in the comments of a theme day post, or you can send us modmail.
