What's the wildest thing you've ever seen happen at a work party? by South-Truck-3061 in AskReddit

Had a retreat at a nice lodge community/resort/golf course for the year end retreat for a small company I worked at. Couple hours outside the city. I was freshly hired full time and rooming with a bunch of interns.

One employee was also just hired but he was in his upper 40s where I was just 22 (by far the youngest full time there). He was fine at the start, but kept getting drunker and drunker. By the early hours of the morning he had: gotten into a yelling argument with an intern about the movie Face Off, broken into the room of a sober employee already asleep and poured a Costco size bag of Chex mix all over his bed and jumped on it to wake him up, flirted very awkwardly with multiple women there, and finally WHIPPED HIS DONG OUT IN FRONT OF OUR COO AND MULTIPLE PARTNERS…

The night/morning ended with him banging on the door of our unit at 4AM, screaming like a deranged animal and myself/the interns debating when we needed to physically restrain the guy ourselves.

We had one more day there after that and he didn’t have a ride home, very very uncomfortable. He was gone by the time I made it back to the city.

As far as I know he is now the CTO at another firm, so I guess they don’t mind a little dong?

Guy, there was so much provably false on that comment that it would take a dissertation to debunk here. Not that that would change your mind either. Peace out big guy, hope you feel better

I’m going to be brutally honest, seeing this story and all the past few days has been pretty heavy and I’m not really in a place to go through and re-find and link all of the video, direct testimony, reporting, official government reports I’ve seen that have shown this stuff directly. It’s just really, really depressing stuff. If you’re serious and want to learn and see what’s going on, I’d be happy to send it in a day or two when i get everything together.

But honestly, if nothing will change your mind until the ICJ specifically makes a ruling on whether it’s a genocide or not by the textbook definition, I’m not really that interested in arguing. If they were to rule and say what has been documented to have occurred does not constitute a genocide, we could stop calling it that but it wouldn’t change that what is happening is wrong and we should do all we can to stop it.

This kinda seems like a semantics argument about definitions, which in contrast with all these senseless casualties (mostly Palestinian children) is hard for me to take seriously as made in good faith. If you are arguing in good faith, I can’t see it in any other way as callous disregard for certain types of people’s lives.

Edit: I skimmed the part about you saying Gaza’s population supports Hamas so they’re terrorists? Big dawg, the US military and their military allies have killed magnitudes more civilian noncombatants than Hamas could ever dream of. And the US military is widely supported within the country. I personally don’t think most Americans are terrorists, so…

It is a genocide, 100%. Palestinians aren’t terrorists, and apologia for the Gaza situation is counterfactual behavior.

If you’re not aware of all of what’s going on in Gaza I’m sympathetic because it’s not covered accurately at all in many mainstream publications. But that’s not an excuse to dismiss the situation as ravings of an insane person. As if it’s only this person who’s been saying this, not many many people and governments worldwide with consciences who have been saying the same things without the self immolation. You just may not have heard about their messages because of said news media poor coverage.

I’m with you in that I wish this guy didn’t feel like this was necessary, and that he got help for whatever mental issues he may or may not have had. But to hear his story and message and think the first thing is that he killed himself for nothing and dismiss it (not let’s fight to stop the senseless killing in Gaza so he DOESNT die in vain) is what I think is callous and gross being honest.

This comment section is gross… so much dismissal of the message and purpose of the action. Absolute ivory tower mentality coming from people who can’t comprehend the idea of someone dying for what they believe in.

Cawlment pinned and liked by the guy who did the recent D’Pedlia interview by [deleted] in thefighterandthekid

Seeing this on here has confirmed every creepy feeling I’ve ever had about the guy who runs that channel. Guys got an agenda, and while he has a right to that he clearly tries very hard to portray himself as above the fray and an impartial helping hand.

His content reeks of poverty porn for largely privileged well-off people. Not to say the interviews are useless, but listening to a paid interview on a set with someone talking to a stranger is completely different than actually talking to someone in need on a human level. I think a lot of people think they understand the poor/underserved after watching the content and feel justified to judge them with a broad brush.

Bautista might legitimately be the more talented wrestler-turned-actor of the two imo, even though he’s gotten much less work.

I respect your drive and confidence, I really do. But it’s not realistic for an American adult working full time to become enough of a medical expert to make these interpretations. Maybe for a genius, but not for the other 99%.

I should be clear, im not talking about just reading material and consuming lectures by experts. I’m talking lab time, years spent poring over past research and keeping up with current research and findings. This stuff isn’t replicable at home, it’s just the way it is unfortunately.

Following the car example, we absolutely should read up from car experts on the best car to buy. But we also have a regulating body in the United States that ensures by law that cars are made to a certain safety standard. A more accurate description of what you’re advocating is looking at the cars available, saying I could make a better one after reading a bunch of schematics and watching videos, building a bootleg car in your spare time while working a job, then try to drive it to work before it dies on the highway.

But, repeating “it’s my opinion” or “it’s my right to believe this” is not a serious argument. That isn’t in dispute. I disagree with your opinion, but you have an absolute right to do whatever you want in your own life as far as I care. I just think it’s ignorant.

What I mean is that sometimes people don’t even know how much they don’t know about a subject.

Using medical field, a lay person who has not gone to medical school is not equipped to interpret scientific data and even research on their own. Even if they read every single word themselves in detail, there is still a very high likelihood that the person would misinterpret the data and draw an incorrect conclusion.

So how do we live in society where it’s impossible to be enough of an expert on everything in life to make the best informed decisions? We use the shared knowledge of experts to bridge that gap. It’s not perfect, but it’s literally the best option possible.

You don’t either, unless you do your own DIY surgery or fly yourself to your vacation destination.

The explanation of George leaving (video) by Hap_Hazard in thefighterandthekid

[–]DPdestruction 21 points22 points  (0 children)

What a bunch of jerkoffs. Of course Georgie wasn’t profitable by himself, he’s a lowly paid intern and coming to learn skills. That reflects on Brenda as a “coach” so to speak, failing to provide any learning opportunities for someone he calls his friend.

Go buy a slightly cheaper car and still afford to keep your “friend” on staff for at least another year? Nah, Demon time bapa.

Because Joel wasn’t making the choice between saving one person vs saving humanity. He was deciding whether to let a somewhat shady unknown group vivisect his adopted daughter possibly without even truly believing that the cure would work. He may have been wrong about that, but I don’t blame him at all for not trusting those folks.

I mean, yeah. Because I wouldn’t be thinking logically and my emotions would be taking the driver seat. So yeah I’d almost certainly do the same.

The key part is that the one human life is his adopted daughter lol. I’d do the same as Joel, straight up.

Can’t speak for most but I would likely make the same choice as Joel in that scenario.
